This.... and will add to it that generally a dildo or vibrator will reach farther in (unless you go with a very small one). Yes toys are designed for different uses and the butt plug is designed for extended use that's why it has a stopper. The big drawback with a butt plug is with prolonged useage it can stretch the sphincter.

This. Twice. In grad school I shared an apartment with a grad student in Nursing. She worked on-call ER shifts in her copious free time (/snark) and had story upon story about "Things Lost in Various Orifices, But Principally Rectums and Vaginas."
