I don't think I ever used it unless I meant it
My HS-GF - ya, I was actually thinking of asking her to marry me once we graduated
College GF - nope, we got along, had lots of fun together, but neither of us used that word
Military GF - Ya - I was actually looking at rings when she got transfer orders - Mid-America to Japan - we both blubbered over each other, had a special goodbye the day before she left (fancy dinner, some dancing then several hours in bed) and I was a basket case for a couple months after - didn't even go on a date for almost six months
So, some of us don't use it just to get under a gal's skirt - I never needed to.
