When I was a kid, we were very poor and living in what could almost be considered a third world country.
When I was a kid, we grew up in apartments, and my sister and I always thought it would be SO COOL to live in a house that had STAIRS. It was like a magical concept to go up the stairs to another part of the house. So, we put a step stool that had two steps on it at the entrance to our shared bedroom, and had to climb over it to get into the room. Makes me smile to think of it.
