Some things just happen. Disks run out of space. Processes that handle things like notifications die. Queues get flooded. Network traffic spikes cause delays. With the best of intentions, sometimes processes that monitor all this stuff stop working or don't work reliably when hardware is swapped out, and nobody knows about it until members mention an outage. Sod's law, of course, means something like the above will occur at the most unsociable hour, like 1:30am on a Sunday.

The UK dev team were on it the moment they were notified by an admin, and got the site running. The peripheral bits that are lagging should come back online today as the server chews through nearly three-quarters of a million backed-up notifications.

The things that I mentioned in the opening post now seem to be back to normal now (or coming back). Thank you.

I've noticed the problems reported above, and put in a bug report, which seems to have vanished from the queue.

However, I don't expect the kind of instant response and fix that a multinational, multi-billion-dollar company would have. Yes, it was mildly inconvenient not to be able to sign on, and, yes, I did miss a number of notifications, but I can live with that.

Thanks for the thread. At least I don't feel completely in the dark now.

It was bought as a going concern. The t&cs and legal stuff can all be accessed from the site footer.

The new owners had already been involved with Lush for years prior and many admins and mods have been here for even longer than that, so it was business as usual.

my question is , since this is now a global site... Shouldn't there be support staff to handle issues such as we continue to experience - rebooting, getting booted , glitchy connections etc pretty much round the clock ? I mean the membership fees and money collected for tokens has to be going somewhere correct ?

Any lost connection issues over the last couple of days were likely related to the server issue, which has now been fixed.

Other than that, the site is pretty stable. They have logs to track these things when no staff are actively monitoring it.

If you're finding issues with connection on a regular basis, it could be at your end. I know some people have found that certain plugins they have installed on their own devices can create issues. Try different browsers and see if that helps.

There are scripts that run overnight UK time, which might cause issues during the day for other timezones, but it's really only affected for 10 mins or so.

Generally we'll see an uptick in support tickets if there is a site wide issue, and other than the issue this past weekend, I'm not aware of anything recently.

By around the clock i meant through the various time zones throughout the world . Not that it happens 24/7 . If it was fixed i sure didn't notice that today. Was having continuing reconnect issues today and for record i don't use plugins for just that very reason.

Yes we do, in part.

However, a typical taco isn't really my thing and Tuesdays I work from home, so I often have Wahaca Wednesdays instead and go for the Burrito!

Never had a Taco... presumably its like a Fajita.

Rump steak and Fosters Friday is popular here in the UK... well it is in my house.

think i know where i'm eating if i ever make it to Aus - sounds perfect. actually, actually, i usually do my computer time in the sunroom to, but it's less fun then doing other stuff. and we actually get sun sometimes. not often, but sometimes!

I just joined today and actually paid for a Silver.However the site is sending me to the verification page and not allowing me to use the chatrooms.Is this a common occurrence here? After all I'm paying to use the site which means I am supporting Lush and I notice that not all members are verified.I sent in 2 support tickets but so far have heard nothing from nobody.I'm hoping that this is a legit site and that I'm not being scammed
