I agree with you and can maybe shed some light on this strange double standard. Sources have told me that when Queen Victoria was asked to sign a document making homosexuality illegal (the damn Victorians are responsibly for a lot of our hang ups), she asked how women could have sex with each other as she understood the mechanics of the males. It appears nobody felt they could explain it to her without great embarrassment or infringing some rules of social etiquette thus they decided not to make it illegal for women which probably contributed to the idea being more readily accepted.

Not for sure if you are talking in this thread or listing bi-curious as their status on their profile.
I have found you can't go by that. I have found that women are very honest with what they put as their orientation on here.
On the other hand, due to so many of the reasons we have talked about over and over in threads, men are not.
I have met men on here who list themselves as straight but they are either bi-curious or even bisexual as they have had sex with men or curious about it. Many of them go into the male chat room.
I have met many who say they are bi-curious when in actuality they are actively bisexual.
So in truth there are not as many who only bi-curious anymore. But it takes a lot for many men to admit that. And I can't blame them.
And before anyone says they should just admit it and move on or even try to out them as some in our society so want to do --- I fully believe that every man needs to work that out and do that for themselves.
Many in our society today feel it is their right to force people out before they are ready. And they make the whole situation stressful and hard to deal with for that person.
People have to do it on their own and only when they are comfortable.
