A trick my friend taught me is to wrap something tightly around your head (like a scarf). It takes away the pressure.
Also, sex always works (;

I only get headaches when I've been stressed, and I'm fairly good at minimising stress. However, going outside for a walk and a breath of fresh air always helps. I'm not a fan of blocking the symptoms without taking care of the root cause, not in any situation.

For a stress/tension headache I do pressure point massage. I apply pressure at the two bumps at the base of the skull and press. It relieves that crazy pounding. I also read something recently about eating 12 almonds supposedly helps with migraines.

As mentioned before, the earlier you treat the headache - the better.

Spending time with my girlfriend seems to work for me. It did last night. I had a horrid migraine that I couldn't shake. Two hours in her company and it was gone! I'm not sharing my cure though smile

For a regular tension headache, I found a couple extra strength Tylenol and a Vivarin usually work well.

If it's something more I have some prescription stuff that will handle it. I used to get migraines a lot so I am well acquainted with headache remedies!

Stop drinking coffee. Most headaches are a sign of chronic dehydration. I had horrible migraines several times a week, as well as tension headaches, until I started drinking water and cut out every thing else. The headaches stopped. Now, if I get a headache (maybe once a year) it is because I didn't drink enough water for the last couple of days.

Coffee, soda, energy drinks, fruit juice and milk all dehydrate you and make you even more thirsty. Caffeine is a drug and a lot of people get headaches when they are going through a caffeine withdrawal. The worst thing you can do is give your body more caffeine. Replace it with water, and soon the headaches will stop. Coffee, soda and energy drinks also leech calcium and other nutrients from your body, which is why more and more young people are being diagnosed with osteoporosis.

The signs and symptoms of dehydration range from minor to severe and include:

Dry mouth and swollen tongue
Muscle Weakness
Dizziness
Palpitations (feeling that the heart is jumping or pounding)
Confusion
Headaches
Flaky Skin
Brittle/Breaking Hair and Nails
Chronically stuffy nose
Dry or itchy eyes
Sleepiness
Sluggishness fainting
Fainting
Inability to sweat
Decreased urine output

Thirst is actually one of the LAST signs of dehydration.

Urine color indicates dehydration. If urine is concentrated and deeply yellow or orange/amber, you are dehydrated.
It should be very pale yellow or clear.

Nothing can replace the bodies need for water. It is what makes our cells and organs work properly and helps flush the body of toxins that cause illness. Most people in America think they are sick, when they really aren't. They are dehydrated because they don't drink enough water. 64 oz. a day is the MINIMUM requirement. Some people, especially if they are overweight, need more water.

I rarely get headaches but when I do, a shot of bourbon and ibuprofen do the trick.

I have suffered from headaches all my life. Nothing seems to work consistently. An ice bag will help. Sometimes Advil will help; sometimes I need Fioricet or a migraine med, but sometimes nothing seems to work. Luckily, I don't get really bad ones very often.

I get headaches often. Excedrin is the only thing that works.

I also lay an ice pack on my forehead, go into a dark room and try to sleep.

Most often it works. I get them when I'm very stressed.

I also get occular migraines which are very scary....when those happen I can't see. Have had that happen about 5 times. It's horrifying to experience.

I get a lot and I am never %100 sure what the cause is so I throw the kitchen sink at them.

I take a Mucinex D plus an Aleve
Then I get someone to rub my neck and shoulders with Icy Hot

I try to relax my eyes first either with cool cucumber or even potato slices. And yes most of the time I tend to get headaches in the evening or nights so yes the lights should also be dimmed or switched off.

If by 'headaches' you mean hangovers, drink plenty of water before going to bed and during the night. You'll be amazed how much better you'll feel in the morning.
