Do you hate popping Midol or Pamprin or any other pills during that time of the month? Are you sick of post-workout muscle soreness?

A great all-natural remedy is Blackstrap Molasses.

It's super affective and affordable. A little goes a long way, so your buck stretches further.

There's a video for it, but for some reason I can't embed it, so I'll just post the link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61d_GPpioE4

Summary:

Blackstrap molasses comes from sugarcane, of course. And it's the "third boil". To make molasses, the sugarcane is burned once or twice, depending on what the molasses are going to be used for, whether it's for baking or a natural sweetener or as a syrup. The third boil has the lowest sugar content because it's the last boil, so all you're left with is the nutrients and minerals. The nutrients strengthen the muscle layer around the uterus (where the cramps come from), which in turn release toxicity and discomfort. It's also a great all-natural muscle relaxer, which is great for that muscle soreness you get after working out.

The surest and quickest way is to take a tablespoon of it straight up, which is pretty intense. So if that's not the way you wanna go, try mixing it in tea...decaff, because caffeine will counteract the healing properties of the molasses. If you eat oatmeal, mixing it into your oatmeal is also a way to go in place of honey or any other sweetener you may use.

This method is super affective. My cramps get pretty violent to the point where I can't function, so it definitely helps to tame them when I do have them.

Do you have any remedies to share?

Can it be used as lube for a more direct application?

I'm sure it could, but it could be a bit sticky. Luckily, someone posted an 'alternative' way to clean your anus with a dildo in the shower, so you should be good to go and there won't be any sticky residue up your bum.

This actually sounds incredibly helpful. I get near-paralyzing cramps ... My question is, is it a speciality item to order offline, or where would one find it?

I get mine from Whole Foods. I'm sure you can find it just about anywhere. As far as online goes, I'd go with Amazon.

I always heard that fucking helped relieve cramps?

I might try this! Every second period I'm more crampy than usual - I actually go into this spacey type fog for about two days as well. For whatever reason, I'm always forgetting to buy Midol - probably because when I go to the drug store I'm never cramping so it slips my mind or I figure meh - it won't be so bad.

It does, but not everyone wants sex during that time. And they may or may not have someone readily available for that particular remedy.

It's not the fucking , it's the orgasm, helps with the cramping muscles. We can do that solo if need be . hahaha
Only one sure fire way to beat the cramping - hysterectomy.

Excellent idea. Let's just all have our uterus ripped out. That's the way to go! =d>

I was just confused. Thought it was to be used locally at first.

Sounds like you speak from experience.

Carry on.

I didn't suggest having a hysterectomy to get rid of the cramps, I meant if someone was having a hysterectomy anyway, that would get rid of the cramps. I thought that would have been clear. my mistake

Nah. That would have zero effectiveness. Applying liquified sugar directly to your innards for extended periods of time would cause all sorts of complications.

WOMEN IN THEIR PMS!?

VICODIN......just sayin......

But ORGASMS are awesome.

Aleve, chocolate (any kind) and Dr Pepper, simulate the hormone that you loose during your period....this doesn't stop my cramps but does help some.
i like vicodin anytime,hee

You know, it's exactly that sort of lack of understanding and sweeping statements that exacerbate our PMS...

We aren't always initially aware that we're suffering from PMS, not right away at least, and the understanding of a partner can actually make a huge difference to our emotions at that time of the month...

Anyone who knows me well, will be aware that I can get a little tetchy before my period, but as soon as I become aware that it's PMS, it becomes a lot easier to handle. (Dunno if any of the other ladies get that too? Moods settling once you realise what's going on?)

An understanding partner will support, rather than run away and I'm telling you, it's the difference between axe-wielding or lovemaking to me, personally...

I get terrible cramps to the point where my body shuts down and I have to say that I've tried everything on the market. Painkillers made for period pain don't help me much because of the severity of my cramps. A lot of homoeopathic remedies are a waste of money but I have never tried molasses so it might be worth a try.

I find the best thing for cramps is just a warming pad or beanbag on my abdomen, always works and I have an excuse for a nap.

Speaking as qualified homeopath, I can confirm that homeopathic remedies actually tend to be very effective in the treatment of menstrual complaints, but the important thing is to get the correct one. Guesswork in selecting a remedy is akin to taking antihistamines to treat erectile dysfunction - it's not going to do anything to help in any way...

Some of the major polychrest remedies, such as Sepia, Pulsatilla or Natrum Muriaticum will work well for most people and be as effective as the likes of Ibuprofen, when bought as "over the counter" remedies and self administered.

However, in most cases, it's advisable to have a consultation with a homeopath, as they will be able to see the "bigger picture".

A few consultations with a homeopath can not only reduce or eliminate cramping, they can regulate your periods, even out the flow, balance PMS and moods, get sleep patterns around that time to less unsettled etc etc.

Because everyone is different and no two people "do" menstruation in quite the same way, an holistic approach can be very helpful, taking into account concomitant symptoms such as headaches, bloating, water retention etc etc etc...

In my experience, the above is ultimately very treatable and can make a huge difference, especially in cases where the symptoms are severe, which they can be for some women, pretty much putting them out of action for a week or so every month...

I get this too. I'm normally in a pretty bad mood a couple days before and then the first day. I just get crabby, but then once I realize it I tend to chill out.

Thanks for the advice Mazza smile
I have seen a homeopath along with a string of other specialists, generally when one gets bad cramps and gets such a violent reaction to them it is anemia but since it isn't that there isn't much that they can do to help me. The problem with homeopathic cures is it is difficult to find a homeopath you can be sure is properly knowledgeable and I haven't had much luck with that.

Here's hoping I didn't get treated for an erectile dysfunction haha

Agreed!! >.<! Is there?
Grampa's heating pad - tried and true.

Although the molasses sounds interesting. We have plenty of it in the cupboard as it's a staple for our horse treats. lol
