Normally between 3-4 hours but I have a nap in the day for a hour too.
I can function happily on 2-3 hours. I either don't go to sleep until the early hours or wake up in the middle of the night/very early morning and find something to occupy myself - I'll go for a run, prepare dinner for the evening, read a book, surf the net etc.

I will, occasionally, have those verrry lazy weekends where I can sleep for 10-12 hours. I am rather unproductive after such a lengthy sleep though, I tend to be groggy and grumpy too.
I wake up from the alarm at either 5 or 5:30 am 5 days a week to run and work out before going to the office. I go to bed around 11:00 pm - Midnight, so never enough sleep. I usually get a little more on the weekend. Sometimes I go through agonizing periods of insomnia. I hate that!
4 or 5.. I can go a week like that, then a good 8
Really need 7 per day to be at peak attention
4 to 5 hours. Never seems enough. But, there is always the WEEKENDS to get caught up!
I usually get three to five hours but I need more hours of sleep.
I usually get about six, but I don't get "rested" sleep. I'd be best with eight, but I hardly ever get that. Nine would be bliss.
My sleep varies between two and six hours a night. I would love to sleep more but i just cannot.
Six plus is idea, I can function alright with five after I'm going, four means I may crash and anything less than four means I'm not going to even bother going to sleep.
Nowhere near enough at the moment - think I could sleep for a month.
6-8 hrs ... !!!
I usually run on 5, I would love a solid 7... I am a notorious napper though!
I usually sleep 3 to 4 hours would like 8 but that doesn't happen often. I envy people who can sleep more.
I usually get 5 or less would like a little more though
Between 5 and 6, if not then 7 or 8. Fuck it! I'm going to bed
5 a night.

I taught my self that in college because it added years to my life. Besides I was carrying a full load, 2 21 hour semesters and a 9 hour summer session. I got 2 degrees doing that in 5 years. That was a bitch but I loved it.
I am always a gentleman.
Between 5 and 6 normally - but if I've been out late (like last night) - then I need more rest, 8 or so
What I need and have are very different, I have about 5 and need about 8 or 9
not a lot lately must do better 8 hours seems unobtainable at present
I rarely sleep since I had a traumatic injury to my brain unfortunately. I normally go days without sleeping roughly about 7 or 8 days, then it hits me and I have to sleep regardless of what is happening if I fight thru it I will be awake for many more days and be back in the hospital for it, which has been 7 times in the last year and a half. I have tried everything under the sun, so if anyone has any new methods feel free to share because this gets old really fast.

I would love to sleep 8 but unfortunately only 4to 5 hours during week but Sunday as day off mostly is in bed to recuperate..
When you say "need", I assume you are asking what is absolutely necessary in order to function. When some people say the word "need", they think they need more than they actually do.

Ideally, I would get 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night, no more and no less. Ideally, I would be a millionaire and save the world ... ideals don't always work out. Usually I get an average of 5 hours of sleep a night during a typical 7-day week, and at that rate I very rarely nap. I have found, however, that sleep is not actually necessary to function if the deprivation lasts 2-3 days. After that, it becomes a problem. I would say the least amount of daily, consecutive sleep that I can get on a sustainable basis is about 2. I can keep that up for months. Of course in that state you get sleep were you can ... 15 minutes her, 20 minutes there. Hell, I've slept standing up while leaning on a wall before.
I can survive on 5, but really need 7
I need roughly 5-6 hours to function properly. Also the occasional nap doesn't hurt. I'm an excellent napper. And unless I go to bed bone tired, sleeping for more than 8 hours or so just makes me really sluggish and lethargic.

And for me, quality is sometimes better than quantity. I've had nights where I've slept restlessly for 8 hours...and was completely useless for the day. And I've had 15-30 minute naps that felt like 6+ hours of sleep, and I was totally energized and refreshed.

So even though I need 5-6 hours of sleep, it has to be good sleep in order for me to be productive.

I mostly just nap. I hardly ever get into a deep sleep. When I do, I wake up groggy and miserable.
