Men's Watches

Men :

- What style of watch do you wear?

- Do you invest a lot when buying one?

- Do you own one at all?

Women :

- Do you notice men's watches?

- Which style do you prefer?

- Do you appreciate expensive ones?

- Is it any important to you?

For work - cheap round Times Expedition.

For dress - a Movado black faced one and I also have a square faced one that I like don't remember the name.

I have been looking at the Invicta watches ... but I have a small wrist and most if not all of their watches are rather large! Next thing you know we will have Grandfather clocks on our wrists!!!!! LOL

I prefer simple designs for watches myself, and really don't like any bling-bling look. I don't remember paying more than $50 for a watch ; I really don't see the point of paying an insane price for something that simply gives the time anyway. I also prefer light bodies and leather bracelets, both for comfort and look.

I like these :

For everyday I wear a Timex and for the weekend Relic with a square black face and band or a Fossil with a round silver and black face and band. Yes I will spend sometimes more than usual for one. I'm a cheapskate.

Yes, I do like a nice watch around a guy's wrist although I'm less concerned about how much it costs than if he actually uses his watch to be punctual!

Of late, Patek Philippe has really bowled me over with the look of their timepieces. Or perhaps it was their slew of brilliant print adverts that did it - they encapsulate timelessness very well. Their 5-figure price range makes it inaccessible to the masses though.
Brands like Frederique Constant look just as nifty but are more affordable.

Apart from statement pieces, I love Swatch as well - real Swiss watches at a bargain!
I think the men's Blue Rebel design is simple but elegant.x

If I am doing a consulting gig, I wear the Rolex in gold and steel. It is pretty much consulting uniform, to tell the client that you expect at least a certain size fee. But the all gold or watches or the ones with diamonds are generally considered naff.

I did buy a cheap watch at CostCo when I was going to Brazil. Paid $75 for it, now it sells for $500 on EBay because its considered collectable. So for everyday use I bought a Seiko Solar. It doesn't need battery replacement and it has a sapphire crystal face so it doesn't scratch.

I just Googled the brands you mentioned in your post. Very nice ones, my style exactly.

I don't really care about brands though. Generally I just buy mine at random shops/kiosks, and they look just as good.

I don't care that much about guys watches - in that I'm not ogling the label or making judgments on his bank account based on a watch, but these are the styles I tend to like - chronograph, steel/metal or dark leather band. Masculine, a little sporty.

The ones I'm posting are high-end/luxury, but you get the general idea (style-wise).

I think this one is around $200.

Nice ones too, Dancing_Doll. I especially like the 4th from the top (the largest picture).

Steel bands don't look that bad (though a bit more classy), but I just can't stand wearing them for comfort issues. When I was in my early 20s, I bought a watch with a steel band and somehow the watch could hardly stay in place ; it just kept moving on my wrist or falling on my hand as I was standing still, which really got on my nerves. I eventually bought a new watch and said to myself "never again" concerning those metal bands. Watches with these bands also tend to be a bit bulkier/heavier, which can be a bit uncomfortable too. Leather bracelets don't cause this issue, as it's somehow possible to tighten them so that they 'stick' to the skin.

I know, I'm hypersensitive. I also have some other hypersensitive issues with certain clothes ; fabrics, cuts, extra material, etc.

Now you are talking.... I have a serious weakness for wrist watches. I have too many, but want more.

I enjoy having a variety of watches, but I don't spend a lot of money on them. I'm hard on a watch and either break them or lose them, or they just get all scratched because I forget to take them off when I go to chop down that tree or replace that alternator. Also, I prefer form over function, any day. Every watch I own came as a gift - I can't remember the last time I bought one for myself.

Here are the three that I've had the longest, and wear the most often. I usually pick which one I have on based on what I'm wearing that day.

I've never enjoyed wearing watches, especially in light of how quickly their batteries die when I wear them on a regular basis. Pocket watches however are a different story all together.

Personally, I only buy watches that tell time in binary. They cost 10-20 bucks and last a good couple of years usually. I've considered getting a high-end one, but then it wouldn't be binary. What's the fun if it's not a binary watch?
And I've only begun fucking with you people.
At the end of the day, it's all math.

I used to purchase myself a watch every year for my own birthday gift to myself... from 1986 through 2000. I can't wear metal anything around my wrist, gold plating or silver or even stainless tends to break my skin out in a rash.

Have some nice looking leather bands & straps though. They are getting as much use now as that Wolff tanning bed I last used in 2003. Phones & smartphones all have clocks on their screens, and I don't care if I scratch those crystals.

Never even looked at a Rolex nor a Tag. Never wanted to put a target on my back either. And I don't travel in areas where I can't get mugged, nor do I carry and I don't try to present myself ostentatiously, since where I work and live and play - I very often don't rub shoulders with the 1%.

Nice timepieces, but gimme a Bulova or a Seiko and make it understated.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

I have a Tag only because it was my fathers and when he passed away my mother gave it to me as the only son. He bought it in 1976 and every 5 years or so it cost a small fortune to have the battery replaced since they service it aswell and have to re-seal it since its rather a divers watch guaranteed to 200 metres. I am however pleased to have such a nice time piece and my eldest son will have it when I go to the land of never ending steak and chips smile.

Oh and I bought my ex a ladies Tag to celebrate the new millennium. Cost £600 in 1999 .

This is my favorite watch I own. It's a Breitling. The band is black croc. It looks good with anything I'm wearing when I want to dress up a bit.

Breitlings really are beautiful in person.

Dammit, I just Googled these watches and they cost around $5,000. Yours definitely look good, but I really don't understand the need to pay such a high price just for a watch.

Shit, does it give the time in the Orion Nebula or what!?

You get a cool hat and keychain too.

Next time you are at a fine watch dealership, go check out the used ones. The used watches are more expensive than the new ones with most high end brands. So, connect the dots.

I think what some of you don't realize is that a fine men's watch isn't for telling time. It's a piece of jewelry.

I mean what kind of an idiot do you have to be to wear a watch to tell time when it tells you what time it is right there on your cell phone... In your car... On appliances... On the TV... On your tablet... On clocks in buildings... Etc...

"Look at me, I have a casio on to tell the time." Lol shut up with your broke ass.

My father bought himself an Omega Seamaster back in the '60s, which is a treasured family heirloom. The steel band's not really my style though.

I like a good quality dive watch, but a bit more dressy than chunky/sporty. Steel case, black face and definitely a black leather band, although the leather doesn't stand up long to the punishment I put them through, often sending me off for a replacement. I'm not a teenager anymore, so the plastic/rubber is a no go.

Form versus function I suppose.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill.

I have several, Most don't work because they are electric. Since I never wear them the batteries are dead. Problem is they are becoming A thing of the past, Everybody has A cell phone. So the only use for A watch is as A form of jewelry. To impress other people. I go into some bad neighborhoods. Wearing jewelry is like hanging A sign around your neck saying, Please rob me. The only ones wearing expensive jewelry are the criminals or gang bangers.Their sign would say, Go ahead try & rob me I dare you. Or Try & rob me & I bust A cap in your ass. I have 1 semi expensive watch & like my suit & best shoes. I save them for weddings & funerals. When you get to be my age it's more for the second than the first.
