My avatar is always me, as I have little reason to hide. My online presence is fairly pronounced! I've reached a career position where I can't be fired, and if my friends find me on Lush, it certainly shouldn't come as a surprise to them, if they know me at all. I have a few business clients who may be shocked to see my profile here, but I seriously doubt they'd ever come to a site like this, and if they do, SHAME ON THEM! lol

I was 'outed' to my family as a bisexual so many years ago, there's nothing to hide anymore.

No. It's Gabriel Byrne from The Usual Suspects. Before that it was David Foster Wallace. I didn't change the avatar, but I put a few pix in a folder available to friends (feel free to send me a friend request if you are curious). They are not particularly provocative or revealing. It's just, um, me.

I just find that so hard to believe that that could happen.

There's a billion websites on the internet. How many people do you know that would be looking for you? The odds must be astronomical. no?

When I read someone won't divulge their pics (even abstract ones like I have as my AV) .... makes me think the worst .... that they are an old/too young horror story.

When I need a change of AV .... and if I don't use my own photos (albeit abstract or partial of myself) I chose something that is OBVIOUSLY not me .... which tends to lend itself to my user name or my interests (like shoes!) ....

i used pics of myself in the beginning, mainly because i did on other sites. here it seems to almost be encouraged to express yourself with avatars, so i decided to give it a go. haven't looked back! i enjoy finding ones that fit my mood.

I've used both. I was called out by a mod here that said I used a cropped pic of someone else. I apologized and replaced it with a genuine ChuckEpoo. I've always used one of myself on the sister site. The one I use now reflects the real me. Lol.
