Why do we seldom see period porn? Is the menstrural cycle taboo in 2021?

Maybe it's out there and I haven't stumbled across it. If you know of stories or videos featuring menstruation, please post links. Maybe we can get a "Lush Unplugged" category added.

There's one of my absolute favourite stories here by one of my absolute favourite people, VioletVixen. It's brilliant. She's having trouble posting on the forums at the moment, so here's a link: Blood Rite

Thank you so much for the link; Blood Rite is spectacular. I look forward to devouring VioletVixen. And her stories, too.

OK. Never watched period porn but have had sex during my menstrual cycle. And no, don't know of any sexual stories to do w/ menstrual cycle.

Wow, thanks for the promo, SBB. I didn’t realize there was such a dearth of menstrual content on here - maybe I just need to write more lol.

And thank you, Laminar, for the compliments both in this thread and in private. It means a lot. I’ve enjoyed your stories too. Sorry I was unable to post in the forums sooner. smile

It’s definitely out there but I think it’s difficult to come by due to the added mess (possibly harder to film) and the nature of it being perhaps a niche audience. I have heard that some women who are into cnc have used period sex as a sort of prop to intensify things with their partner which, if handled properly, could make for some interesting fiction.

I can’t think of a good tagline so this will have to do. Suggest a better one for me?

True, it is difficult to come by, but not because it's necessarily more difficult to do or too niche (otherwise fetish porn wouldn't be making a profit), or that there are no performers who are comfortable with sex or masturbation on their periods. Many do both in their daily lives, and you can find some on certain sites like Pornhub. Pretty much, it all comes down to MasterCard regulations and interpretations of said rules.

Long story short, MasterCard made a bunch of new rules to protect minors (yay!), but also tacked on a lot of other stuff that may have sounded good in theory, but sort of screwed over some perfectly legal kinks and fetishes in the process (boo!). The list is kind of vague which has led to many hosts to just preemptively ban things they once allowed like 'extreme' fisting - which is super vague! One hosting service goes so far as to define fisting as five fingers, not including the knuckles, and clearly states performers must always keep their thumb visible. I don't blame the service, since most vendors can't afford to lose MasterCard as a way to process payments. And small operations can't possibly moderate and judge every fisting video.

Pros: More verification hoops for performers and all those appearing under a producer which helps make it just that much harder for illegal stuff, revenge porn, pirating, etc. A lot of this also has to do with US legislation on the topic.

Cons: The consensual, legal stuff that got caught up in the save-the-children crossfire that was deemed obscene or dangerous, but really had nothing to do with verifying performers' ages and consent.

Anyways, this site (MEL Magazine) links to a google doc spreadsheet by Sophie Ladder, a trans performer, that shows what is allowed where. You may be surprised to know that bondage involving four limbs bound with penetration (a common trope in mainstream movies, even) is pretty regulated and banned in a lot of places (thanks again, MC). Although ManyVids just recently updated their guidelines to allow it again, so maybe the sun does shine occasionally.

I wish more people got pissed about this because they're legal and consensual, but are no longer up to the site owner to decide if that is content that they want to have sold there or associated with their brand. And anyone who is involved in bdsm or fetish stuff will know that informed consent, respect, and safety are all paramount and of utmost importance.

As a side note, one of my favorite drag shows, Dragula, had no choice but to censor one of the performers, Hollow Eve, who was not only not allowed to use real tampons with real menstrual blood, but also not allowed to use any red on their costume which consisted of unused menstrual products like pads and tampons. I want to stress that this show involved actual blood from shock performance and kink-based punishments like staples in that season and needles in the previous one as well as imbibing animal blood - all okay with Amazon Prime.

You can read an interview with Hollow about reality tv and the tampon incident here at Gloss Magazine.

Anyways, you probably didn't want to read all that, but I thought you deserved an honest answer as to why period porn is so damn hard to find. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
