Well that's the final nail in the coffin for this place. It's all about money money money.

I know that this change was unexpected. Silver, Gold, and Platinum members can PM, however, if you are sending PMs to a free member, they will not be able to respond.

I believe this to be the problem to most people and why they will be hesitant to pick up a membership to begin with. It's not much of an incentive to pay for a service that you can't even use 100% because it's restricted to whether or not he people you look to private with are paying members as well. Sure we can still chat in the main rooms but there's a reason private messaging exists. If your hope is for silver/gold members to persuade others to get a membership, I doubt how successful that will be. I believe in the long run, more people are willing to pick up memberships if the users contacted can still reply, i.e. only the one initiating the private chat has to be silver/gold. I know money is necessary to keep this place running but there's gotta be a better way than this.

I believe paid members are going to get lonely here as people abandon this site for the 100s of sites that allow the basics for free. More fun to have a crowd of people, instead of the same people all the time. New people can’t even try the site out without paying first. Sorry to see Lush die like this, it was such a good site 2 years ago.

we're sorting this out. Please be patient until after the dust clears. thanks. smile

The way that I discovered the change was interesting.

A (non-paying) member of the site had recently returned after an 18 month absence and she and I were about to get re-acquainted in a one-to-one in the chatroom-except we couldn't!

I (and hopefully she) will await developments.

I will be patient.

The solution to this dilemma seems obvious, at least to me. 😊

There are several other things that go into website valuation such as the age of the website, revenue trend, traffic trend, sources of traffic, and so on...; so tell me the business model for a miniscule membership bump in revenue vs the devaluation of a mass exit of its membership....pure and simple its a money grab. I was here when they first instituted the pay for membership and drank the kool aid about the money going for improvements ...the improvement was we were sold out and asked to accept fewer features than before

I feel bad for the mods that are taking the heat and disdain as the owners line their pockets and are nowhere to be found to explain their decisions. The mods were and are not part of the decision making policies, but they represent higher anarchy than the common members.. It took years for major league sports owners to realize they had no sport without the players. Now every major decision includes approval from the players too. I guess this ownership thinks they live in the business world dated back to the 1920's where input from the member is inconsequential
