you can do the OMs (black boxes) or chat (blue box) if you're both into it. you can also simply whisper in the room, although chat mods can still see the whispers - no one else can, tho.

I don't think chat mods can see the whispers.

ooo - good to know! i can go back to whispering bad stuff about them, then!

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Many thanks, Sprite. Next time I'll use the whisper mode!

Hello Everyone

The issue brought up by 'Lowrider' is very pertinent. I feel it's just not about creating a room for new members but something more than that. At the same time I would also say advice/suggestions already posted by the veterans are very informative and essential. I was a member earlier for less than a month but had to leave due to personal reasons. I have recently come back to Lush. I still consider myself a new member from that point of view.

There are few issues concerning the conduct of old members towards the new members which cannot be swept under the carpet (specially cliques - I know it is personal matter with whom one wants interact). Having said that I would also like to add that there are members whom I found to be very very helpful to me during my earlier few days in lush. I have no hesitation in saying that John and Racking were two of many other old members ( sorry, I am not able to recall the names of other members )who were very helpful to me during that time. So is it a coincidence that among all I find them on this thread again posting their valuable suggestions for new members. I feel that a person who is nice and helpful to others in real life is likely to conduct himself/herself in the same way here (or vice versa). No offense to other old members who have posted their valuable comments. I am sure they are also very helpful and equally nice guys and gals.

Thanks to you also Lowrider (sorry don't know your real name) for starting this thread. I am sure other members will also put in their valuable and encouraging comments to help the newbies in days to come.

I am also changing my avatar and updating profile as per advice and suggestions of the honorable veterans of Lush.

Thank you everyone for every word of advice. Aim was not to offend anyone.

I like the idea of a dedicated newbie chat room. I can see people using it for a couple of days and never using it again though, so it would be better if a few "old hands" ran it to answer questions etc.

I would always be willing to go in and answer any questions. I love helping people.
i always, if i can keep up with room, say hihi to people that come in....as for a room just for newbie i agree there would be some that would just take advantage of "fresh people" but as others said before just keep coming back and learning the ropes and try and talk....dont lurk. and if you ever need something poke me hard with a stick or perferabbly a cookie and i will answer you smile happy lushing
my newest :)
Chat rooms are like eating grapes, some are very nice and tasty - others are so bitter and sour you spit it out and move on. I do like chatting and exploring so I don't take it personal.

Also, many people have developed relationships over time here and really don't mean to exclude, but relate very well with old chat buddies; however you will get a "Hi" back or "Hope you are doing well" type response acknowledging you are in the room, as they continue to chat with buds.

There are some rooms rooms though I have gone into that gave me frostbite and made me feel like a pariah. But those are the ones I exit and don't go back into, because there are a number that you can go and will get taken in eventually if you stick with it and give it a little time.
A determined person with perseverance can overcome many obstacles. They can, many times, perform better than those who are more intelligent, stronger and with better finances by determination and perseverance
