From what I have read in different posts from both men and women, there is a lot of guys pretending to be female on this site.
A couple things about this puzzles me.
First.. Why? What possible reason is there for this?
If he is pretending to be female and talking to women, what is he hoping to accomplish? Is there not more than enough women here that are willing to talk to guys without the pretense?
If he is talking to other guys (which must be happening from the posts from guys that I have read), it seems even stranger to me. What could he possibly be getting from that? If he is straight, why would he want to talk to another guy at all? If he is gay, then why pretend to be a woman and talk to straight men? It seems there are more than enough gay/bi men on the site to talk to. There is even a chatroom just for men.
And second... Over the weekend I talked to several here and at work. Some who have been going to internet chatrooms and such for as long as they have been around. Not one could recall a single incident of a female pretending to be male.
So, why then, as the title says, why is this a guy thing?
Since I haven't done it myself, this is just an educated guess, but I think this whole thing comes down to the belief that women are guarded around men. Especially when you see all the comments about girls who only want to talk to girls, and the comments about how guys who chat up girls tend to be creeps, it makes sense that you could get closer to a woman as a woman than as a man. Girls here tend to share experiences with each other. They also occasionally share pictures. Knowing that, a guy could think that he will receive more masturbatory material as a female than he would as a male.
As for the gay or bi males who do it, I have heard of that as well, but don't understand that aspect of it. Especially not when there seem to be available men willing to oblige their interests.
I agree with Jebru. I could see why some guys would pretend to be woman on Lush. Looking through profile, which I do often, there are more women wanting to talk to other women. I m sure you are not surprised, but there are guys on here not looking for casual conversation. They are here to get off, and it is easier to pretend to be female ans succeed, than be a male and log off with out getting off. I personally think it is disgusting.
I am a guy pretending to be a guy.
I concur with the above, everyone likes attention from the ladies and girls are just more accessible to girls.
I think it's because women get a lot more attention on this site. As soon as you join, you get hundreds of guys immediately friending you, poking you and trying to online chat with you. So guys have to work harder to get a girl's attention (as a random guy in a huge sea of male profiles). So they create a hot female profile and suddenly other women drop their guard and become more open to talking to them. Plus if you have your eye on a "no men please" girl... that might be perceived as their only "in" to chatting with her.
To be honest, I think this results in a lot of cases where it's two guys cybering with each other and pretending to both be girls. I would think that a real girl would still be as into the small-talk and finessing required before cyber if she was talking to another girl, as she would require from a guy? I've had some girls try to very aggressively chat me up right out of the gates and the red flags go up.
I don't cyber 99% of the people on Lush anyway, so whether they are guy or girl doesn't really make a difference for me, but I do enjoy bantering and fun conversation and I think I have developed a good radar for 'faux-girls' on here. There is just a style to the profile and way of conversation that ends up seeming obviously unnatural. The hyper-feminized and hyper-sexualized profiles are easy stand-outs. I think guys tend to overdo it when creating a female persona.
I have seen many people on here who are obviously guys pretending to be women. I have often had the thought that Doll just mentioned. I wonder how many of those guys would be shocked to find out that someone else is fooling them at the same time.
The thought of two guys talking about body parts that they are pretending to have and don't fully understand makes me chuckle. Those must be some truly awful cybering sessions. lol
Oh, to be a fly on the wall. hehe
The reviews are in. Here's what people are saying about FicklePickleTickle:

maybe they are pretending because they're gay and have a fantasy abpout being a woman.. like they want to be transsexual or something.. geez, i don't know about this one, maybe we should just ask?? xxxxxx
It's kind of the forbidden fruit kind of thing. We all know poeple who like to break the rules just for the sake of breaking them. So for some, seeing a profile that says something like, "Women only, guys fuck off" or "No dicks, jsut chicks" or "Girls Only"... that's just too tempting. They want to see what's behind the curtain. It's pretty common knowledge that many guys think about lesbians that he can "convert" her. Guys think lesbians are hot, so some will result to pretending to be a woman in order to cyber. Or to see the pics that only friends can see. I know even I've seen some women on here who are only here for other women, I've wondered what goodies must be on display for their friends? But, I'd not pretend to be a woman to see them. Just not my style. Some things just aren't meant to be, and I can live with that.
When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser. Socrates I don't get it to be honest.
If you pretended to be a woman and was able to get "friended" and see a few pics, that's all you gonna get. I doubt you'll ever get a connection.
A bit pervy in my book.
Some will go on websites pretending to be women so they can act out their fantasies of how they want a woman to act. Same reason that they create over-sexed female avatars in computer games. It gives them the opportunity to create their "fantasy woman".
I've often thought this, really odd phenomenon isnn't it. As has already been said I don't understand the potential benefit to them.
Ok, so you have a popular profile, what does that do for you?
I've tried talking/friending with some of the obvious ones to see if I can gain any insight, but haven't found any.
While I agree, I've never seen a woman set up a male profile, I suppose the female equiverlent would be creating a "fake" female account i.e I more attractive sluttier version of themselves. I can atleast see the point of that if they want more attention
Probably the same reason why men enjoy watching lesbian sex

Why not read some stories instead
NEW! Want a quick read for your coffee break? Why not try this... Flash Erotica: Scrubber Could it be that the girls are just better at playing guys than guys are at playing girls? So no one ever suspects a thing?
I noticed that a lot of girls that have added me as a friend in the past and they strictly wrote in their "About Me" that they want nothing to do with males. I'm going to assume all of those are actually guys pretending to be girls. What would be funny though if two guys pretending to be girls actually ran into each other and had a little intimate chat. Hm.
It bugs me more when they post pictures of porn stars and claim it is them. Or when they post pictures that have made their way around the internet and claim it is them. Those are completely obvious. Then when you call them on it and they still insist, you must shame them. And that just gets sad. I've pointed that out to a few "women" on here and a one even deleted "her" accounts a few days later.
I honestly don't care what gender you are. I'm not going to cyber with you. I'm just here to read a few fun forum threads and get off reading stories.
On the flipside of things, and you may think ill of me after I say this, there are some technical forums that do not have much respect for women. On one of those forums I set up a seemingly male profile. I've received a lot more direct help in that instance. So perhaps some men feel they get more direct attention or the attention they seek by pretending to be women.

I rarely have the time to chat, and that's always been a concern of mine. I like women, and only want to chat with women. I learn so much from them. Since I don't have a lot of time to chat, I surely don't want to waste it with a guy just making crap up.
One thing I do, after really making friends with a woman, is to ask for a photo of her proving she's a woman. Usually it's a boob photo with a little sign that says "For Tabber." That way, I'm either talking to a real woman, or at least someone in an open enough relationship to share her with me!
I like it when they post a profile picture that you've seen somewhere else before! When you call them on it, they suddenly go away.
They think they might stand a better chance of getting your phone number or something. So please be careful ladies and stay safe. Be aware that some people might try to get info about where you live etc in a round about way, asking what team you support for example to see if you live near a certain football ground. Mention of various landmarks or tourist attractions, friends of friends, people in common, etc. Be very careful of the kind of information you give out, and never take anything at face value.
It looks like I am the only one that is going to be daft enough to admit to this. It was many years ago. I was still using Windows 95. I think I did it because I thought I would find something out that I could use if I came back as myself. I soon realized that I was sounding like a right tosser and that the only people I was fooling was likely other blokes doing the same thing.
my money would be on them trying to con someone for pics or juicy talk? would you ladies feel more comfortable talking to a sexy young woman or a perverted old man? just saying lol
Most of them are caught out soon enough.
I think they take their cues from stories. Red flags for me are overly enthusiastic about anal and how they can cum from only anal, saying hehehehe a lot, and using words like plow. There are gazillions of other clues but I don't want to give them away ;).
It doesn't automatically mean they are guys, but it makes me watch more careful and most of the time it turns out so.
