I don't know why the guys backed out. I never backed out. I enjoy threesomes. I only been in a few. Would like to be in more threesomes (FFM). If you ask me I will not back out.

Performance anxiety. I remember the first time I was in a threesome, I came in less than two minutes, and that was without penetration. I explained I had never been so excited and they understood. It took a while but I got it back up and we fucked again, but it was embarrassing.
Also, the only threesomes I have been in have been MFM. I have jokingly said I wouldn't know what to do with a FMF threesome, but there's a hint of truth to it. Two women would be somewhat intimidating.... again because what if I came too quickly?

I think a lot does go into performance anxiety. I've thought about what my reaction would be if I ever found myself in such a position and I'd be worried about neglecting one over the other, or end up neglecting both because I'm too preoccupied about neglecting one of them. And likely my own enjoyment would suffer too if I thought I was making such a botch job of it.

Also, personally, I think it would have to be with someone that I (and my significant other) trust and enjoy outside of a sexual role and wouldn't be worried about ruining that friendship by introducing it to the bedroom.

One possibility that I haven't seen mentioned is a lack of clarity or directness by the party proposing the idea.
I have to admit I missed an opportunity for one with Diane and her husband. I was departing a job at Sears to move to Corpus Christi and Diane wasn't very aggressive in approaching me about what I'm now sure was a MFM. 'Course maybe I was just too naive to recognize the opportunity, LOL.
And maybe just remind the FEW, if ill of us they speak, that WE are all that stand between, The Monsters and the Weak !

Good perspective. I've had only one threesome when my ex brought home a friend from work. We had discussed it but never got to the point of serious planning. Came home from Work and my ex told me she was in bedroom. Asked me to bring her a glass of wine. When I walked into the room it was lighted by candles, with two nude women kneeling on my bed. I dropped the glass of wine. Can't remember removing my clothes. It was all a blur. I found out why most men back out. Talk about performance anxiety. You gotta be a wiz at multitasking. I spent way too much time with the fresh new chick and my wife got pissed. Later the girl started stalking me and texted me constantly. Telling me she loved me. I keep telling her to bug off but her persistence led to the two of them getting into a fight at work. Both got fired. Sooo, it was not all that great in the end.

I would much rather see my wife with another girl, couldnt stand her with another guy and she would never do either. We talk about it and joke, but i would probably be the one to back out if push come to shove. Things are great with us, woulnt want something to change that. Sorry to be the odd man out.

I would have to guess and say it's because a lot of guys have lost touch with their Alpha male mentality and have become giant pussies.

I don't know why they would. Perhaps they lack some self confidence? They may perform studly for you. Get another woman involved and they my be afraid of cumming before it even starts. First time can be a nerve wracking thing for a guy. He'd probably do better if he had a one on one with the female participant first. Knock the ice off the edges and boost his confidence.

No backing out here. Love it, bring it on.

The offer only happened once (fmf) and I’m one for one. Knew both of them and it was perfect and lasted way longer than I thought it would.

Now a three-some is just in the land of fantasy I’m feared...just not something my wife is into which is totally cool. Nothing wrong with having a fantasy or two out there.

I've backed out of a few. Cant say how many. Most I've gone through with. However the 4+ group has been more common. I've probably been in only a half dozen ffm or fmf. Two or more males with one female has been a hell of a lot more common. Couples swaps as well. I did a lot of those in my youth. From cruising the swinger sites and other observation I'm thinking the mmf mfm & more males are a lot more common than a threesome with two women.

Anxiety and pride. Some are a little worried about what would if both the ladies involved wouldn't walk out happy and begin talking behind his back.

Why would any guy back out of a threesome, with two women, that he already agreed to. I've never done that, and can't think of a reason why I ever would, especially when the women are looking forward to it.

I wasn't given a chance to back out of the threesomes I've been involved in. I came home and my Ex had her female co-worker there, one thing led to another and we wound up in the bedroom. I was scared to death I wouldn't be able to perform, let alone be able to satisfy both of them. All in all it went OK, but not great. We talked about it after her friend left and I told her I really wasn't interested in doing it again. She was miffed and decided to " SHOW " me. A couple weeks later she brought home a male co-worker. The ex didn't know I was a closeted Bi, having been with a guy several times before we met. Her friend was really attractive and I just couldn't help myself. I found myself paying more attention to him than her. I had surpressed my Bi urges for the 15 years we were married, but those feelings came flooding out. He fucked her as I watched and when he finished, I cleaned him up with a blow job, much to her surprise. After he came in my mouth I managed to get him hard again and got him to fuck me. As he did, I ate her. After he left she was fuming that she felt slighted. After that I quit hiding my bi feelings and she couldn't deal with it. We divorced 6 months later.

I have never backed out on that opportunity. Possibly the guy got cold feet because he felt he could not pleasure both woman equally? I would put the effort forth to make all participants have a good time.

I've done a fair amount of group sex and can say not everyone, men or women, can deal with the performance or desirability anxieties. We all have this feeling to some degree. its normal. I've seen men and women flake out on threesomes or group sex they had acted interested in.
