Despite what you may have heard about nude beaches being for public sex and orgies and such, it's very much like a regular beach...only some people choose to be naked.
As long as you follow nude beach protocol, you should be fine. Strutting around proudly and prominently with an erection is bad etiquette at a nude beach. Sure it happens, but it's expected that you cover up or maybe wade in the water until it abates.

During the warmer months, I go to a nude beach for an hour or two almost everyday. It is really not that much different than any other day at the beach.
I have gone to nude beaches several times and to be honest, it was actually nothing special. I would say the majority of the people, you will encounter are just average looking people who are there just to relax and enjoy the sun and the rest you probably don't want to see naked.

One final thing to remember is that the Canaries are notoriously windy islands and sometimes it can be a cold breeze.
