I haven't got a clue what all this is about!

The Hunger Games Trilogy, books by Suzzanne Collins, that take place in a not too far off future in which the US has been ravaged by environmental changes - the tyranical government is now centered out west and there are 12 districts spread across the US that are basically slave camps - they rebelled once, but it was put down - as a punishment, every year 2 kids between 12-18 are chosen at random from each district and forced to fight to the death in a televised reality type show - sort of survivor style, with weapons. the story centers on Katness Everdeen, one of the tributes forced to 'play' in the games. smile hope that helps?

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I am very much looking forward to seeing the films. The books were excellent.

I LOVE THEM BOTH! haha are they even legal age? haha but i think im on gales side right now

i am still conflicted about who i like better, and i've read the books. They both have their faults and their strong points. I think i still lean towards Gale in some ways, but... well, finish the book and see how you feel then...

(And, had things been different, i would choose Finnick over both of them...)

While i get why you said that, i don't agree - well, i do, it sucked in a way, but not because it wasn't just as amazing as the others. god, i just burst into tears thinking about it. yeah, ok, it sucked in that it left me an emotional wreck, i'll grant you that! lol - i did have one issue with it, but i don't think it's the one everyone else has, and i don't want to give away spoilers, so i'm keeping it out of this discussion. smile

lol, I'm actually relieved that I'm discovering a lot of people appreciating the 3rd book. I should probably read the whole trilogy again. It's just that the plot progression was unexpected, both good and bad. And without giving any spoilers, I just felt that Mockingjay gave away too much in such a short span of time. The narration felt rushed. But, again, it could just be me too. I'm curious to find out what your issue is about the 3rd book.

Rumors say that Gary Ross and Lionsgate are going to be splitting Catching Fire (Book 2) and Mockingjay (Book 3) into 3 movies. If the rumors are true, I'm all for it! And I bet they will be able to handle the storyline thoughtfully.

Anyway, thanks for posting Trailer #2. Jennifer Lawrence is AMAZING as Katniss. and Stanley Tucci as Cesar Flickerman is a brilliant choice.
And yes, I'd go for Finnick too! haha.

But between those two Katniss Everdeen admirers, I am a Peeta girl smile surprised how Gale is the more popular in Lush. lol.

Not a rumor, confirmed. smile And omg, yeah, Tucci as Flickman was inspired. I have my doubts about Lenny Kravitz, a rockstar, playing Cinna, but he does look the part, so we'll see.

Mocking Jay took me on an unexpected ride, it kept making left turns when i expected/wanted it to take rights - that's not a complaint, btw, but i felt off balance and there was a part of me that wanted things to happen different - that said, i thought the story went the way it needed to go, rather than the way people wanted it to go.

My issue won't really spoil things, so i'll share it - i thought after everything she'd gone through, Katniss ended up letting people make decisions for her and was a little too accepting of her fate. It wasn't a big deal, but there was part of me that thought she should have made herself heard to an extent. Of course, then i have to remind myself that she's 16 and just gone thru a lot of... well, nasty stuff. Really, all in all, a minor quibble. :)

wooooot. good to know!

I wonder who's going to end up playing Finnick. That's definitely a hard character to cast.

Yeah, I haven't heard anything about casting - nice thing is, they'll be able to open up the age range with the older tributes... hmm... be fun to cast our own of 24 for the games of Catching Fire. smile

Gale does change, and you'll hate him. But in my opinion he's always been angry and self centered.

I hadn't heard of this at all until I saw this thread.

Strangely, I went to my parents' house tonight and my sister had literally just finished reading the first book, so I now have a loan of it...

Hope to get through it quite quickly so I can let you know hat I think...

I've been visiting Mockingjay.net regularly for updates on the film/book, and they've been listing down their choices for the role of Finnick. I'd be a happy girl if they cast Armie Hammer biggrin Who do you guys have in mind?

The Quarter Quell season of Haymitch should be fun in the big screen too. Damn, book 1 hasn't even premiered yet, but I'm excited for Catching Fire already. lol
