Yes but it depends of course on the story, how it's structured and the use of language. I am no expert, I've only recently embarked on having a go at writing and my stories reflect that. Erotica, in my opinion, is a written form of pornography that stimulates the imagination and takes you into the minds of the characters which photos and videos can't unless they are of a high artistic/creative level, which constitutes very few.

Straight to the action leaves me behind, I need to identify with the characters and there has to be a plot to the story.

A certain word will turn me off even if it's a great story. There are many words to describe women's genitals but, maybe it's an English thing or the way I was brought up, but the word 'Cunt' (also referred to as C U Next Tuesday).

If it's a story that gets me going I will masturbate but not to completion, I enjoy teasing myself.

It totally depends on the story. I'm a very visual and tactile reader and need to be able to see and feel myself in the story.

Also the anticipation is often the erotic part for me. The mechanics of sex per se[/I] doesn't turn me on nearly as much as the insecurity of not knowing whether I (or my partner) will consent and to what is very hot.

My own stories still "work" for me because they conform to my "needs".
