It's the paradox of vulgarity. "Cunt" is a crude, vulgar, and ugly word. We need to preserve that ugliness for when we want to be ugly (i.e. offensive, transgressive, etc.). When it becomes commonplace and acceptable speech, it loses its power to provoke, and then what do we have left? So I totally support anyone 'clutching their pearls' at every utterance of the word. Keep 'cunt' dirty, you dirty cunts.
