Wouldn't guess? LOL

It was a funny situation. 3 of us at the casino in Melbourne - 2 Hunks (Gay) and 1 fugly (me - hetro) and we are walking through to get to the restuarant. The girls heads were spinning, drooling checking them out. I didn't even get a look in but I was the only one that would have been any good to the ladies. Still makes me chuckle today.eQr8kKkjHxO7NZEl

Yes I have been asked numerous times to explain my sexuality or my stance on hetrosexual/gay relationships.

Please show me where there was whining

It was a question in response to an article that was published stating that sexuality is genetic. As stated by one responder the genetic aspect was specific to males not women. So is it men's inappropriate behaviour that makes women seek relationships with other women? I suspect this to be a factor because some men can be real AHs. Some women can be real bitches also.

Whilst I appreciate women don't want to be constantly bothered by horny men it works both ways.

At my age I have no desire to pursue women and as stated was just tryng to get an understanding. I have 3 adult children all in their 20's and don't need to prove anything, but if one approached me and told me they were gay I would want to be able to advise/consol them appropriately.

How would a parent handle this situation if it arose what advice would they give.

You've gone off on so many unrelated tangents that it's becoming quite difficult to keep up with what you're saying.

Firstly, I never asked you if anyone has ever asked you how you felt about homosexuals and homosexual relationships. I asked if anyone has ever asked you to explain WHY you're heterosexual.

You then went on to say that you despair when you see a beautiful woman who is a lesbian...as if this is justification enough to ask WHY they're the way they are.

And then you went even further and said that lesbians shouldn't be upset when men continuously hit on them because boys will be boys. I agreed to a certain extent. It's not men asking women out that's the issue...it's men not taking no for an answer that seems to be the issue. And there are men who ignore a woman's sexual orientation because she's 'too beautiful to be a lesbian'.

Your original post said nothing of you seeking advice and guidance regarding homosexuals. Only justification as to WHY women are lesbians.

Does it matter why?

Firstly, I never asked you if anyone has ever asked you how you felt about homosexuals and homosexual relationships. I asked if anyone has ever asked you to explain WHY you're heterosexual.

Has anyone ever asked you to explain or rationalize your sexuality? Your words exactly.

You then went on to say that you despair when you see a beautiful woman who is a lesbian...as if this is justification enough to ask WHY they're the way they are.

Purely from the male perspective. I agree despair was probably not the best word to use, confused would probably have been a better one - the same as as a woman may wonder why an attractive male was gay - .

And then you went even further and said that lesbians shouldn't be upset when men continuously hit on them because boys will be boys. I agreed to a certain extent. It's not men asking women out that's the issue...it's men not taking no for an answer that seems to be the issue. If the woman has made it clear to the man that she is gay than I agree he should leave her be. As to the ignoring issue I agree also. But the primary issue here is the woman make her orientation clear to the man. I have seen this in the opposition situation too. Many inital rejections between like mind people have turned into long term relationships which wouldn't have occured if one party gave up on the first try.

Your original post said nothing of you seeking advice and guidance regarding homosexuals. Only justification as to WHY women are lesbians.

I am not seeking advise - I am trying to understand the attraction and why it occurs. As stated they believe men may be homosexual because of genetic issue but not females. If I specified all the reasons for the question I would be still writing here next year. I clearly stated that no offense was intended and none was. I have probably had more interactions with homosexuals than you (pls red profile if u haven't) and I still haven't got an understanding why this occurs.

Does it matter why?

I believe it does - if we understand why we become more enlightened and hopefully more understanding and tolerant and this makes our society better. If we r all intelligent people on this forum discussion of this or any issue should generate better understanding, not generate derision or insult. I don't believe I did either yet believe I have received both. So as my profile states I am a straight shooter, I am sixty+ and I will not tolerate crap from anybody at any time. I hope this give u some insght as to where I am coming from.

I do not want to offend anybody. Learn, understand most definitely. Make some friends - why not. Read some hot stories - luv them. If people can't get or handle that then they can **** off.

I don't even know what to say to that. First of all a basic understanding of genetics would make you aware of that a parent doesn't need to have a trait to pass it on to there child. They only need the gene. Additionally there was a time where homosexuality wasn't an accepted "lifestyle" and many people indeed some chose a conventional life with a partner of the opposite sex and even had kids.

i wasn't being serious. i figured i would troll back at Python but apparently i just found out he was just being stupid and not trolling. sad

I have just read an artical where scientist have stated being gay is genetic.

I have also noticed that there are a lot of gay ladies on here.

Do you agree with this finding or is it because a man/men has/have been such an AH/s that you have gone to the darkside.

I despair when I see such beautiful women that dislike men sexually - after all we both have our rolls in nature.

To all the gay ladies that r sick of men hitting on them. Please don't hold it against us; we can't help it - it's the way mother nature made us.H8UaG6QhAtMuidXq

Now this is the only post that I've read and I fear for your safety! I'll read the other comments before I make mine but you may not like it!

If you're talking about the same study that I read about last week, then it was specificly about male sexual orientation and the fact that they've found some genes that seem to play a role in it (not just in being homosexual, but heterosexual as well). One of the 2 chromosomes involved is the X chromosome which all men inherit them from their mothers.
Oh, and these genes only play a role in it, but don't define sexual orientation. For instance in identical twins one can be gay and the other straight.

Quite correct, it's the epi markers that are believed to define a person's sexuality, this is epigenetics.

Personally I don't care as long as they are good people, but if ur child came to u with such a confession u would like to have some knowledge in this area. This has not occured to me but it has to some people close to me.

Confession? What crime do you think was committed?

Confession? What crime do you think was committed?

No crime was commited. If it is genetic, and I have been informed it only affects males I was curious as to why females are gay. What is the driver - many women suffer considerable abuse from men (not from me I might add) and thought this might be a primary factor. I could certainly understand if it were as there r some real bastards out there.

Just curious and trying to get a better understanding of people's choices/motivations. Stirred up a hornets nest and sorry I even asked the question. It appears some have taken offense where none was intended even though I clearly stated so at the outset. It's been a learning experience for me as a newbie on forums and I will not go there again.

ok, just to solve the mystery of why some women are gay...

i am gay because i am. there. hope that helps. *bows*

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Haha, I'd only read your opening post when I said I feared for your safey, lol, I knew what was coming! Your problem is how you phrased it, I had an idea that you didn't intend it to mean how it read.
Again the choice of the word confession was unwise, announcement, pronouncement or even admission would have been more suitable.
Your link isn't the best either, wikipedia can be a bit suspect. Google homosexual epigenetics and there are many scientific works that have been published on the net, I did a lot of reading on the subject for another thread here. The work on identical twins proved that it wasn't genetic as they have exactly the same genetic makeup. The field is a new one with more and more work being done on the effect of epimarks.
Dear pricklypear whether or not you meant your comment as a joke, I don't think it was in any way helpful. It only made people angrier and a mature conversation less likely.

Let me try to be the voice of reason here. People are entitled to their own opinions and we have to respect them and it doesn't matter if we like them or not. That said and after rereading the entire topic I think python really didn't mean to offend anyone. He is trying to get information on an topic that was a in is childhood and make sense of it. He is at least trying even when his word choices and questions are improvable. I also get the other points. I have seen people struggle with their homosexuality and the demand of society to explain themselves. So I just wanna punch those people ( the ones demanding an explanation), but I don't think this is a valid solution. I just can ask you to try to remember where the other person is coming from and to chose your words.

it is a fact otherwise why have the two sexes - that the way mother nature made it.

I don't think mother nature is a good alliance for you in this discussion, because I would like to point out she also created gay penguins. (They live in the zoo around the corner from my house and are as happy as the others.) I'd like to state that nature created us the way we are and we have to accept this. You should be careful with what you say, because that statement can easily be interpreted as you saying homosexuality is unnatural and wrong.
Coming back to what this topic was intended to be about: The cold hard facts of science or whatever passes for it.

Python, you asked me about more information. So I'm giving it too you.

This article is a few years old and not up to date on the newest developments. However it is a great summary on social relevance, history and research on the topic of homosexuality and genetics. It also evaluates every study done and points out its weaknesses.

Here's another link:

Very informative but heavy going. It has helped me inderstand though. It doesn't matter your sexual preference it is decided before ur even born and reinforces the arguement that people should be accpted as they are because they have absolutely no control over their sexuality.

I was in a very abusive marriage and after my divorce I had been screwed over by several other men. But even with this I did not become a lesbian. I am Bi but I was before since my teens. I still enjoy sex with men but I just don't trust them anymore. That didn't make me become a lesbian and if that didn't nothing will.

I do believe sexual orientation is determined at birth. Many people who are predisposed to be gay fight it or cover it up because they try to conform to what society expects them to be. Maybe I am wrong about this. But really why does anyone care what someone else's sexual orientation is and why it is what it is.

so, it's ok for guys to hit on lesbians, because nature made them that way? really? well, then it's ok for lesbians to punch guys in the nuts, cause that's how nature made us. smile

I have always thought that was a wonderful way to get the point across that i am not interested sprite

that's fine and all, but the link says it all: theories.

we used to have a theory that the moon was made of cheese and the earth was flat.

besides, i'd take the word over a person that is living it over an "expert" or scientist giving their theories. i wouldn't ask someone who's never had kids on how to raise one.

That's why I try to use the icons or clearly state my stance. Often I still get it wrong.

BTW very few people are at the level to qualify for MENSA most of us are just plebs trying to get by with as least pain and as much fun as possible.
