This is pretty much for everyone, but I am curious as to what tips everyone may have at improving their writing. I ask because I find my writing is the same and I would like to improve.
Try reading lots and taking cues and inspiration and turn it to your style.
Ummm... one of the things I've had to do, is I like writing longerish stories. I mean when in my writing opinion, twelve to fifteen pages is a wham bam- quickie story... I know I can be overly descriptive and the devil might be in the details, but when I ask for someone to critique my work, their biggest complaint is... it is amazing only it is very long!!!
I challenge myself.
I open Windows, and I must write a short story, one page no more. From start to finish. I have gotten better, where my latest (see link in signature line, Sharing is Caring at Work) is about sixish pages. This is one of the writing exercises I do every couple of days. I've not yet been able to get just one page, but it is something I am working on.
The other to practice describing things, is to take an object, the knock it off my table. And I must describe in detail how it happened, the end result, looks, sounded etc...
As to improving the storyline itself? I am not sure how to help you there. People claim my brain is dark and twisty as the stories I prefer to write never seem to follow in any set path and at times echoes reality. I find that the more I explore my sexuality and being able to speak more openly about it (soooo.... am I sweet or slutty???? tee hee heee I soooo couldn't help myself!!!) also changes the path of my stories as well.
Read lots, and lots and lots and lots. If you can, get in touch with an author you enjoy and ask for their help where you need work in your writing. Just be careful, many people will just blow sunshine up your arse telling you it is a good read.
Living life and enjoying life are two different things... just need to figure out how to do both at the same time to live it right!
Woman... GO FLY A KITE!!!!! Take a slideshow walk with me on a walk through the parks of Inner Mongolia, China. Then enjoy the tale of a very traditional day in the life of a white Woman in China. Hard to say. I'm having a hard time myself. Writers block
Well that's just my opinion, sorry if you don't like.

One thing I always do is read my stories out loud before I post.... It helps with the flow of the narrative.... (It does freak out my Polish Cleaner, Agatha, mind you....) xx S
Write about what you know. Experience is key. Even the simplest scenario can be interesting and arousing.
This not to say you need to go out and fuck everything in sight. Writing evolves with the writer and is interesting in this way. A story of self touch and exploration is a good place to start. This can take you to places you know about and fill your head with fantasy which is interesting as well : )
"Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it."
C. S. Lewis (1898 - 1963)
Torture the data long enough and they will confess to anything.

Actually Daniel, I think Mr. WellMade makes a lot of sense...
Nylo, when you get in town with the liquor truck give me a call...
It's amazing how your writing seems to improve after a few drinks...heck, you might just decide the whole writing thing is over-rated...
But, like WellMade says...get the liquor first and give me a call...
Practice sculpting my story helps me get better! A bit geeky but I have started to read through the dictionary working my way through the all the words I decided to start at A, and write my own symbols for new words I don't know, words that I know but need to understand more. I also like to read about grammar trying to drum in what I still can't remember off the cuff!
I've recently been having to take Maths lessons at college for a NVQ I'm doing, and I've started to notice this makes my brain really alert after the lesson, I'm starting think there is a connection from getting a good maths lesson and creativity in writing!!! I'm enjoying how alert I feel after doing an 1hr and 30 mins of maths!!!
I would welcome a shapely feminine, Polish, polish cleaning, right about now.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
