Is there one poem or story you've written that you would like more people to read?

I was wondering...

If you wanted more people to read one of your poems or stories, for whatever reason, which one would you choose and why?

I put a lot of work into this one for a Valentine's competition, and I thought it was pretty good, but it didn't get read much, partly because of the category (I suspect) and partly because it was quite a late entry to the comp.

It was totally different from anything I'd written before—a bit supernatural, and an unusual concept. I think more people would have liked it if they'd given it a chance.

Hard choice as I have a couple of poems that I wrote that were fun to write... I like to add a bit of humor and I think I found this poem the funniest to write... plus I think it is different from most poems here... unique maybe but who knows.

I've written two stories, and the one that got rejected is the one that I actually preferred!

But because it got rejected, I guess I'd prefer everyone to read that one story that I wrote that is on my profile. Not that I wrote it for people to read, only....well, it's the only one I've got for people to read!

You're killing me adagio.....lol

Would it be ingenuous of me to suggest a story that is moving agonizingly slowly towards that Famous Story badge? Modesty prevents me from providing the link.

This is fantastic!!!

=d>

I promise to read each and every one of these pieces. I hope many more authors share their poem or story with us.

Writing for me is really difficult and I may get too attached to some of my words. For some, writing is probably much easier, but I suspect we all have poems or stories that we wish were better viewed or received.

Thanks Everyone!

Do it. Add the link. If you want people to read it, and I did say for whatever reason, please post the link. It's worth it to you so I'll make a point of reading it.

Can you tell us why it was rejected?

Is it something you can modify so it can be published?

I had the same thought. My first story is a few hundred votes away from famous status. I never feel right about asking people to read my work either. I'll make you a deal, I'll read yours if you read mine.8mdDTd5r1cVqMhcg

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

D'ohhhh....never mind Gillian, I'm guessing its the one with 29, 559 views....

I'm usually not this stupid, honest!

"You show me yours and I'll show you mine" That's what I said to my 13 year old cousin one Christmas! I was 13 too, we were at that inquisitive age, but that's another story. Well, no,not a story in here...lol

All of my poems.... because I've written those being not a poet hehehe.... Well, I think I have written these in simplest possible words and put my heart in smile Some of them relates to my personal life and relations too..... However, the last one "Listen to my heart".... and "This Valentines Day"..... I expected more members to read and endorse their comments..... I'm fond of all my work but these two are special to me :)

I have heard from a number of readers here who tell me my stories/poems deserve much more attention and mod recommendations than they receive, but frankly, since I have limited time to read the many great stories written by others which deserve my attention, I can't honestly expect others to give to my work what I myself am unable to afford to give to their work in return.

It's not enough to be a good writer. You have to write stories/poems that appeal to the readers' interests, and reward them for the time they have invested in reading your efforts. Strangely, none of my first 25 stories have garnered even an RR, while every single one of my last 5 have. I don't understand the reasons behind this, but I am inclined to think that a lot of my earlier works are just as deserving as the more recent ones, so if you have time, and are so inclined, read some of my early efforts.

I would love to, but I'm interested in what you would like others to read because of it's meaning to you.

I too don't read as much for both reasons of time and fear of plagiarism. I worry I might get an idea and write something, only to read it in something that pre-dated my work. Maybe a bit irrational of me, but I'd feel like crap if I actually did that.

Please post a link to a story or poem that's important and meaningful to you. I'd love to read it.

I think this was a great idea for a thread. It would be great if it could be a sort of "read one leave one" kind of thing.

And does the OP have any story of his he'd like to direct us to?

I'm uncertain at this point. Each one has meaning, but I've not narrowed it down to one, but I will.

I'm going to read some of the poems and stories mentioned here first.

Thanks for asking!

OK, this one was the hardest for me to write, as it is a very long poem telling the tale of an actual ancient Sumerian myth in poetic form...

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/love-poems/eros-innana-the-descent-of-the-goddess.aspx

...but it is from a cycle of novellas I wrote with my British writing partner, Melissa Soames, and we both consider the entire trilogy to be the best of our combined writing efforts. Sadly, they are not allowed to be published on Lush because of content rules here.

I will start with poetry because that is where my heart is. A number of my poems have been awarded an RR, but one which I think was a better poem technically is Dancing Upon The Clouds, which is on of the first I posted when I returned to Lush under a new identity. I have noticed that those poems for which I recorded an audio have the greatest number of views.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/love-poems/dancing-upon-the-clouds.aspx

As far as my stories are concerned very few have any great technical merit or required very much research. My personal favourite is my pastiche of Alice in Wonderland with the title The Naughty Adventures Of Alice, but the stories I feel proud of are in the historical category. With the general title Bawdy Tales, they are set in the time of the Black Death and are in the style of The Decameron or Canterbury Tales.

My latest story was supposed be short enough for Flash Erotica but it ended up too long and so I posted it in Humour. In hindsight I should have posted it in Masturbation. That aside this was the easiest thing I have ever written and possibly the most enjoyable.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/humor/the-comma.aspx

This is my favourite poem I have written. Most of the poems I right reflect my Gothgirl thoughts and so consequently are not always appreciated here, hence why I do not post them anymore. I hope you enjoy this one.

Maybe that's the name of his story he wants us to read??

Great thread and thank you to those who have read mine already and I am glad you enjoyed it.

I am looking forward to reading ones posted here... I hope people will understand that although I do not judge what categories people write in some are just not my cup of tea so forgive me if I do not read them, it is nothing personal.

I am a little behind on my reading as it's been half term here in the UK this week, but I will catch up for sure next week when my kids go back to school and am looking forward to it.

Did you ever fall in love with someone, but kept that to yourself, because you were convinced that person could never be yours? I have, right here on lush. By that time, I had given up hopes about salvaging my marriage, but she seemed to be happy in hers, so I refrained from anything beyond friendship. That is when I wrote
Thoughts I should not have.

Since then, time has proven me wrong on what can and cannot be, and our relationship has developed way beyond friendship. Still, I think this is one of my better poems here and I still feel those butterflies in my belly, every time I read it.
