Authors : What are you working on?

Some writers don't like anyone to know what they are writing until it's finished. Others, like myself, thrive when people know what they are making and there's a bit of expectation or encouragement.

So what writing projects are you working on that you'll post to lush?

Currently, I have two stories pretty deep in development.

1. Working title is 'Communion'. It is a historical romance based on a painting my partner created. It's set in early 1700s France and I've been doing a lot of research to make it historically accurate. A painter's family is commissioned to create a fresco for the local church. She befriends the young priest and their feelings begin to grow as they spend more time together. However, politics and the seeds of the French Revolution threatened to end their budding romance.

2. Working title, 'Nick the Devil'. This one is a lot of fun and will probably be completed first. It is based on one of my favorite fairytales in which a woman's insatiable love of dance scares away all partners. This leads her to exclaim, "I would dance with the Devil himself if he dared try." Hell hears this and sends Nick to collect her soul. Being an erotica adaptation, you can assume that it's not so much dance she's interested in. This is my first attempt at a story in written in the second person. The characters are also a blast to write for so far, very earthy and vulgar.

So what are you writing that you're excited to finish?

I'm not sure what's next for me. I'm actually bored right now reading and writing sex, so I need to come up with something different than I've written before.

I have a trilogy that is half written, which I'm super proud of. It's a collab with the awesome tams_back_yay who has unfortunately been awol for a little while, so I'm hacking away at it piecemeal when I get the odd moment. Hoping she'll be able to reel my writing in to make the story even more awesome. It's a gritty, sexy thriller set in London. And it won't be released until we've written all three parts.

There's also a forthcoming collab with Jen: a continuation of my Tabby series. So if you haven't caught up with this naughty cheating couple, then now's a great time to do so, ahead of the release of the third instalment where they push boundaries even further in the office after hours.

I have a student-teacher piece in development that I've offered to another writer for assistance. I want it to be a little different from the regular tropes and I'm planning it to be Damon Albarn levels of clever, along with the hottest tease in existence. Hopefully.

Plans are also afoot for a gay male story, but I'm struggling to make it a bit different from the wealth of excellent works already on the site. This may be a slow burner so may take some time to write.

One final story I have in development, about an elusive neighbour and a teen who housesits for him, is destined for the category. That's only about 5 paragraphs in, though.

Lots of stuff in the works and, of course, hundreds of files littering my drive in various states of finishedness.

Great question to put out here. I have a few projects in the works right now, in addition to maintaining a few series and possible follow-ups to previous stories (I like to try to keep my fans/supporters happy and consider requests).

I will have my version of a Steampunk coming out, very different from those I've read, based on an alternate reality and outcome of the War of 1812. War, sex and unexpected machinery changing the outcome of North America.

I am also working on something, possibly in the Novel category, involving a couple who are manipulated into diving into an open marriage by a close friend. It may end up as a series, I haven't decided how in-depth I want to burrow just yet.

And as always, looking for something -or someone - that sparks my imagination and inspires a story. 😎

I have some notes, actually quite a lot, for a story in or around New Orleans. Having never had a story accepted or published leaves me a bit intimidated. So many others write with what seems to be such ease. I also have been reading Eudora Welty who fascinated me. The South in general has such a wealth of story material that I tend to lose focus regarding topics. I have written several “poems” but feel rather unfulfilled by the effort and need to either move on or quit writing.

OMG what aren't I working on... when I say working, I mean started before my brain stopped. The only work I have managed to produce lately has been 1 micro and a few love poems, thanks to my muse.

Part 2 of my series following up "In The Beginning" called "After the Beginning" (original huh?) following the 2nd year of Tina and Luke. The 3rd year has the ending planned out and is going to be called "The End of the Beginning".

Part 2 of my series It Can't Be Right (LL will be pleased), I actually have the next chapter written and have the opening paragraph on the chapter after.

I have an epic love story that I am working on with the working title "Ghosts" (which I have been berated for, trying to lull people into thinking it's a horror). The couple in question are Bet and Vic and as the story opens they are 74 and 81 respectively. I keep going back to it and each time I read the prologue I fill with tears. Whether you lot will see it or whether it goes straight to Amazon is yet to be decided. There might not be enough filth for you lot :P

Talking of Amazon, I have 3 books part written that I am planning on sending straight there. Plus I am editing a story for someone else who has given me permission to publish on there. And finally, there is editing that I am doing for a couple of authors here.

So yeah, a bunch of ideas, just my brain is pretty fried at the moment, I blame the drugs myself.

Well I've been working on the same series for a long time 🤣 I think it may be at around 30 chapters now. Maybe more. I lost count. I went back after getting near to the end of the second book so I'm doing what would be the first book in a series of 3. I refuse to do anything other than get it finished or I'll get distracted.

Not a single thing. My Lush muse has adopted an entirely asexual attitude and not even Sprite's threats can dissuade her. I did bake some very tasty blueberry muffins this morning, so that's something.

Absence makes the mind more creative sometimes. Had a few sexual droughts that led to really enjoyable story ideas.

My muse has been gone since time immemorial without signs of return. I have a bunch piling up in the back burner with some that I have provided sneak peeks. I halt when I get emotional to the point of leaving most of the stories especially the long ones undone.

I have a few questions like how do I put an ebook together and where can I sell etc....

Quick answer is Amazon, though there are plenty of other e-book sellers, many have quite tight rules on what they will and won't accept.

If you go to the KDP dot amazon dot com and the help pages there is a ton of info there. One of the most useful is a tool called Kindle Create. Also Google Kindle keywords to help you get the right set up for when people are searching.

Do not expect more than a few dollars unless you are prepared to 1) put in time to getting the keywords right, 2) build a portfolio of work 3) failing 1 and 2, put a lot into marketing the tool. Of course if you just want to share it, you can put up for free from time to time and let the good folks here know about it.

I have a story almost ready to go here. It has a loose end, though, and I am debating whether to tie it up or use it as the hook for a sequel of some kind.

And similar on StoriesSpace. I have a finished story but it is definitely a part one of something longer and I don't want to publish until I have some idea where I am going with it.

3/4 of a new Alice chapter written. 1/3 of a new Space Girl written. Other than that, fuck all, and it's been since before the holidays i've even touched them. i tend to write like that, though. It's nothing new. in about a month all knock out those and probably 3 more in about a week. lol

Christopher Walken appeared in my mind as I read that. "I have a fever, and the only thing that can cure it is more Space Girl."

It occurred to me there are Dads EVERYWHERE in my new WIP, bad ones and good ones and in-the-middle like most of us. I may be working out a few issues on paper, I think.

Currently editing the end part of my next chapter, which is sitting at just under 10,000 words. I'm trying to cram a lot in, so the following chapter doesn't start and then stops abruptly. There's an "event" that happens off the page because it involves an ignored safeword, so there's likely to be some back and forth before approval too. I've been really dreading getting to it which is why I've been dragging my feet.

Currently, I'm editing 'Catering For A Stag Do'. I've reworked Chapters 1,2 & 3. And will work through the rest when I find the time. It was one of my favourite stories, and when re-reading it, I found many inconsistencies.

I've also gone back to why I joined this site - to write down some of the incredible true events that happened to me over the years. So watch out for these in the coming weeks. I have two of these stories half completed.

And I must get back and write the final chapters for 'What Goes In Vegas' and Rachael's Trip to Jamacia'.

I am writing the next chapter to Lust, Love and Ecstasy. I call it the Big Apple because it is set in NYC. I am currently working on editing it based on some of the feedback I received from some of you. Also, relooking at some of my earlier chapters based on my learnings as a young writer. Branched out into Love Poems recently and I think that keeps my creative juices going.

I may have the opening for my competition entry done, ready for an outline. I've also written the opening of my upcoming chapter and got about 1000 words in. Henke has very kindly offered to give it a once over because I'm omitting an event to ensure it's within guidelines.

Well, I haven't been on here with anything new in several years. So, it's taking time to get my creative juices flowing again. (Pun intended)

I did submit a new story for the latest competition inspired by my new girlfriend. You know, Valentines and everything. Who needs it?

I am also almost complete with a follow up story to one of my early ramblings. I never thought of a part two till the GF decided to start reading my stuff. She was adamant that it deserved a part two. We will see how it's received by all of you. (Spoiler alert: It has a town huss bucket in it)

Other than that not much. Work and life have been keeping me too busy to write much more than a check out for bills.
