Soo many here both good and bad.
Like many have mentioned, I really enjoyed both the book and adaptions of Shawshank redemption, Harry Potter, Hunger Games(and even better, Catching Fire!), Interview with a Vampire, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Millennium series.
I enjoyed Gone with the Wind, but thought the adaption of Scarlett left a bit to be desired. The Shining was a great book, but was not adapted well, to my dismay. (makes me question if I want to see the potential adaption of the gunslinger series.)
Others not mentioned Ive really enjoyed were The Black stallion(Francis Ford Coppola), The last of the Mohicans(James Fenimore Cooper was a bit wordy, but still quite good), The Hunt for Red October (Sean Connery, Tom clancy both great), Thunderball(James bond, from one of the original books) and others.

While Fight Club isn't my favourite book the combo of the book and movie was truly spectacular, this goes for a clockwork orange too.

Ok, so it's not a Movie it's a Series, I think Game of Thrones deserves a mention here. It's the best thing I've ever seen, I'm absolutely obsessed, and I know others are too, I've honestly never seen or read anything quite like it, Amaaaaazing! I urge you to completely avoid Game of Thrones if you value a good nights sleep in your life. For the rest, Immerse yourself

Read the book and saw the film while in school, so what, 12 years ago and it was phenominal.
Gary Sinese is a massively underrated actor, I think he is phenominal!
The Crow used to be a comic, and that turned out fantastic despite it costing Brandon Lee his life.
Also the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles used to be a comic and the first one was and still is amazing.
The list can go on and on...
