The Seven Samurai
A Man and a Woman
A Little Romance

I loved a'A Funny Thing Happened . . ." and also 'History of the World Part 1', I always wished for a Part 2 :-) 'The Seven Samurai is also a great movie, but my dislike of subtitles got me on that one. The western remake 'The Magnificent Seven' I also thought was we3ll done. The Yul Brunner one, not the most recent remake.

There are three films with subtitles which were good enough to overcome my resistance to subtitles, and only three.

La Cage aux Folles (The Birdcage was not as good, but close. I've seen it three or four times so far.)
Seven Samurai (The original Magnificent Seven was extremely well done, I can't say one is better than the other.)
(Sadly I forget the third one, a French comedy.)

Looks like we're in for a nasty spell of wether.

"Cross Creek".
Filmed in the very area I grew up.

It's a story about a struggling female Author who finally achieved her goals. She was a strong ,but vulnerable woman.
She fell in love on her terms. A very humanistic story of a time long past.

Marjorie Kinman Rawlings wrote the American classic "The yearling" A time based story about love and a way of life in the deep swamps of Florida most will never understand.

Mary Steenburgen was the star.
Frankly, she reminds me very much of myself.
