Being There (1979): The President is asking economic advice and Peter Sellers as Chance the Gardner explains how the garden grows and is taking it to be the economic advice he is looking for.

I define nothing. Not beauty, not patriotism. I take each thing as it is, without prior rules about what it should be.

Dumbo visits his mother in jail and she sings him a lulabye. A very touching and a sad scene in one of Walt Disney's masterpiece films from the 30's-40's.

I define nothing. Not beauty, not patriotism. I take each thing as it is, without prior rules about what it should be.

A tribute to Desmond Llewellyn who played Q in 17-19 James Bond films. It seemed fitting to put this here.

Casino Royale (1954): The very first screen appearance of James Bond 007, made in 1954 for US TV channel CBS. Bond's task is to destroy the evil Le Chiffre, and his plan is to force him to lose a large sum of money at the gambling tables of Casino Royale. With Barry Nelson as The FIRST ever James Bond. With the 1967 Spoof Version being the second remake of this movie of the same title. And the Daniel Craig version being the third remake in 2007

I define nothing. Not beauty, not patriotism. I take each thing as it is, without prior rules about what it should be.

Gosh so many to choose from. The closing shots in Shane when Joey shouts after Shane "Shane, Shane, come back Shane ......". Or the courtroom scene in To kill a mockingbird when Jem is told to "stand up son, your father is passing". Also the end shot when Mr Arthur (Robert Duvall) is revealed hiding behind the door. ET: "I'll be right here" as he touches Elliot's forehead with his finger. The Hobbling' scene in Misery. The fight and first stormy kiss in The Quiet Man. Just about anything by David Lean lol. I could go on lol. Great question.

Wizards 1977: American animated post-apocalyptic science fantasy film about the battle between two wizards, one representing the forces of magic and one representing the forces of industrial technology. It was written, produced, and directed by Ralph Bakshi. The film is an allegorical comment on the moral ambiguity of technology and the potentially destructive powers of propaganda. Blackwolf's secret weapon is propaganda, used to incite his legions and terrorize the fairy folk of Montagar; but Avatar's willingness to use a technological tool (a handgun pulled from "up his sleeve") destroys his evil twin.

I define nothing. Not beauty, not patriotism. I take each thing as it is, without prior rules about what it should be.

Mark Wahlberg fingering Reese Witherspoon on a rollercoaster in Fear. That scene has always stuck with me.

Glad I ran across this tonight. I had not seen Fear, but this clip will stick in my memory bank too.

I'll add two clips from 1988's Bull Durham. There are a few more, but these two are priceless in my mind.....

"The Wild Bunch" by Sam Peckinpah (sp?) in 1969. The end of the movie.

William Holden gets up, gets rifle and starts out toward Soldier's camp and the other three of them got shotguns, rifles pistols and ammo and followed to ask for their friend to be realeased.

The Mexican member of the gang has been taken by the Local Mexican Army Leader who had a grudge against him or his family or both. He had been tortured, abused...and then he killed him in front of them while they were standing there expecting him to be released. The were outnumbered 4 to 100+

It was real quiet, William Holden shot the Genrale' and started on the other officers while the others started shooting at the rest of the soldiers, especially the man on the water-cooled browning machine gun.

About 15 minutes of fighting and they were all killed, but the army officers were all killed and the army was decimated by them.

Deep throat when she took it all the way.

Sam Peckinpah's "The Wild Bunch"(1969): An aging group of outlaws look for one last big score as the "traditional" American West is disappearing around them. When one of their own is captured they are faced with the choice of escape or what is certainly a suicide mission to attempt and free their fallen behind comrade. For them it is not a choice. And when they say let's go get Angel there is no hesitation on their part to go get Angel. Considered one of the greatest films ever made.

I define nothing. Not beauty, not patriotism. I take each thing as it is, without prior rules about what it should be.

There are so many movie moments that serve as icons within our popular culture and a good many of them feature Jack Nicholson. The opening scene of Don Juan DeMarco however, stars Johnny Depp in a movie far too overlooked.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Lauren Bacall telling Bogart "you do know how to whistle, you just put your lips together and blow" in To Have & Have Not. The sexual tension between them in that scene is amazing.
