Walking Dead fucked us good. Like in the ass. With no lube. And yet somehow, I'm still happy because after the stress, shock and tears, now it feels really good. Welcome back, Glenn.

... still a mean trick though!
I'm so happy that Glenn is still alive. I would have been so bummed out.

However, and I have vented this to a few people already and I'm going to here. I'm so over Eugene. He is an utter useless character that is kept around for no reason. He brings nothing to the show and is only a human filler at this point. He won't man up! I really thought he was going to once he saved Tara in the last season, but nope, he is still a useless slug. I'll do a happy dance if he goes.

Anyone else agree or feel otherwise?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Eugene. He's kind of dead weight to the other characters around him as well as the viewers. They haven't really done much with his story arc and I tend to forget he's even there at this point. Eugene and Rosita both seem expendable.

I'm guessing a lot of miscellaneous characters will get killed off during the mid-season finale (ie. the Alexandrians who haven't had much talking time) and maybe one or two semi-regulars. If Eugene gets chomped, I definitely won't miss him. silly
The greatest tv show ever!. i wont look at these other posts...spoilers.
LOVE this show....so many turns.

Some of my favourite writing from you, Doll.

Glen's miraculous escape was definitely an ah-come-the-fuck-on moment, but at the same time, I was instantly relieved he made it. he's far too cool a character to kill off at this stage, with nobody else even remotely able to fill his shoes.

Great episode all round though. They certainly know how to ratchet up the tension, and on so many different fronts too.

But I don't know what Enid's deal is. I thought she was supposed to be the Wolves inside man with all that "we" and "us" business with Carl as the attack kicked off a few weeks back. I was waiting for her to lure Glen into an ambush or something. Still, the angry teen thing got very old very quickly.

And Eugene... useless as tits on a bull. I still like him though. He's great comic relief. I'm hoping he has his moment. By the look of next week's episode, we'll soon know either way.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill.

Now you just need a spritz of the infamous 'Secretions Magnifiques' by perfume house Etat Libre D'Orange to complete the effect.

With its (intentional) fragrance notes of blood, sweat, semen and milk, it's quite literally an olfactory horror show and pretty much could be The Walking Dead captured in a perfume bottle.

Yeah, I thought that too. Not totally convinced they won't drop that twist on us later though. She's so elusive and even if she'd been part of the Wolves for a while, she could have abandoned that group as easily as she abandoned Alexandria. Or maybe the teen angst is just throwing all of us off and she's just a nice kid that's been through a lot and prefers flying solo in a world of instability. And Carl likes her, so she might be destined for a real teen-love storyline with him next season, assuming he doesn't get shot by that other angry kid. Damn.. all this, and Glenn and Maggie still wanted to procreate.

They kill Glen in the 4th episode.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Oh, you haven't seen the first season yet? That's still my favourite. Perfect balance of action and storytelling. And it made me cry twice.
I don't subscribe to the channel it's shown on over here so it's blu-Ray or nothing sad

Ahhh, ok. It's on a free channel here and there are marathon re-runs all the time. I guess I'm lucky. On the plus side, no commercials for you! And really - the first season was so well done, it's well worth adding it to the Blu-ray library.

I totally bonded to the Andrea character in Season 1. I know a lot of people didn't like her as the series went on, but she's still one of my faves and probably TWD character I've most identified with throughout the series (flaws and all).
Oh I was away a month on vacation, got to catch up on the last 3 episodes smile
Oh dear me, I thought this was about people in general smile
In the world's harsh wear and tear many a very sincere attachment is slowly obliterated.

That first episode of the second-half of the season was pretty intense! During that one sequence with Jessie and her kids I literally sat there with my jaw dropped, even throughout the commercial break. Damn. Talk about a bloody Valentine's Day for Rick.

Nicotero always does such an epic job with these episodes. From the explosion to the burning lake... I totally appreciate the way these things were staged with care, without taking the easy way out by relying on CGI.

Holy fuck!!! I had that same jaw drop...

Watching talking dead now...

Very excited about Negan! I've such a crush on him..,

I did make the mistake of reading some stuff about Negan from the comics, bit of a spoiler which I hope is not going to happen in the tv show... ?

I know exactly the spoiler you're talking about - I watched that scene from the comics on youtube a while ago (set to tragic music). I hope it doesn't happen in the show. Having said that, I think fans will be pissed if it doesn't since it's supposed to be such an iconic scene for Negan. I'm hoping it plays out with a minor (or different) character and tweaked somehow so it's not as brutal. It's such a brutal show, but somehow I can't imagine being able to sit through that as a viewer.

Speaking of Negan though, how awesome was the demise of his gang. That was another scene that left me slack-jawed during the opener! I totally thought that would have been CGI but they used actual dummy replicas. Very cool special effects efforts.
I just looked at the trailer for this series. It look like it would appeal to people who work in meat production processing the live animals or perhaps coroners.

You definitely have to appreciate the horror genre to enjoy it, although it's actually more about relationships, humanity and ethics, and the struggle for hope in the face of fear.

However... "The Walking Dead has the highest total viewership of any series in cable television history, including its two most recent (fourth and fifth) full seasons, during which it averaged the most 18- to 49-year-old viewers of all cable or broadcast television shows.[9] Total viewership for its season five premiere was 17.3 million, the most-watched series episode in cable history." (Wiki)

The series does pretty well when it comes to pulling in viewers. And hey, I like it and I don't even eat meat! smile
I'm a huge fan! I always watch "The Talking Dead" also.
I loved the opener. I have such a man crush on Daryl. It just never ceases to amaze me how when faced with such a scenario, some people will go off-the-charts psycho. Like really, I know it's the end of the world and everything, but do you have to be such a dick about it?

That was some pretty powerful stuff with Jessie. The way she held her son's hand... My wife was in tears.

And Glen! My heart was in my mouth during that moment. I was actually thinking they might have done it too. It would be just the sort of mind fuck the creators would pull. Make us think he's done for, leave us hanging for weeks, let us off the hook, than BAM!

Just as an aside, I stumbled across an interesting theory from the Film Theorists on YouTube about how our guys keep getting surprised by walkers when they really shouldn't:

The Walking Dead's Silent Killer

And even more interesting, this theory on how it's all going to end has me raising an eyebrow or two:

How The Walking Dead Will End

They shot Carl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!
Didn't see that coming. Loved the stage make-up. Brilliant
I always knew the zombies were attracted to sound and the smell of the living. What I didn't realize is that they were drawn to light, like moths to a flame. :-) Or was it the sound of the fire. I guess I will have to brush up on my zombie survival lore. Still the show is great fun. Not having read the graphic novels every episode is a new adventure for me.

Yeah, I think zombies are supposed to be drawn to the light, the movement of flames and sound. I guess anything out of the ordinary that stimulates their very limited brain stems.

I remember the charred zombies that had wandered into that house that Darryl and Beth set on fire a few seasons ago. And they seemed to be into the burning barn on Hershel's farm during the last stand.

Setting the lake on fire was such a cool scene.
And then this happened...

I totally get it, and it's nice to see a power-couple that's this evenly matched.
