The Netflix series Russian Doll has a pretty incredible soundtrack. It's a compilation of songs, not original, but they are chosen perfectly for the mood and moment of the scenes. I'll try to scare up some of the tunes later.

From Jason And The Argonauts. One of my favorite movies as a child. This music really sets the mood.

Any of John Carpenter's soundtracks. He is a director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and composer.

His theme song from Halloween has to be one of the most easily recognized songs. He can do tense and suspenseful music better than most.

The soundtrack to Rock Star. For a movie about a fictional 80s metal band, the songs were heavier than alot of the actual 80s bands.

Bernard Herrmann's Hitchcock film scores, along with several of his Twilight Zone scores, specifically the episode Walking Distance.

Randy Edelman's filmscore to the movie Gettysburg is incredible.

Danny Elfman's score to the 1989 Batman is perfect!

Christophe Beck's ambient music to Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series is gorgeous.

Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings soundtrack in incomparable.

James Horner's Star Trek 2 & 3 movie soundtracks are beautiful.

John Barry's Bond themes, as well as nearly every other film he composed for.

B. Hermann is a god. Check out Zimmer's Dune soundtrack, btw. It should be listed as an essential character in the film. smile

It really is evocative.

Best TV soundtrack of recent memory (my memory anyway) is Justified.

My fave movie soundtrack is a tie: Mark Knopfler's Local Hero score and the score to Chinatown.

Tintinnabulation - first place (Free Spirit)
Comet Q - second place (Quick and Risqué Sex)
Amnesia - third place (Le Noir Erotique)

the West World soundtrack(s) are really good too - same guy who did the ones for GoT. Ramin Djawadi.

I have to agree with those who suggested the Amelie soundtrack.

Also, although it sounds dated now, the Oscar-winning soundtrack for Chariots of Fire is amazing, especially in the context of the film.

I won't even mention Bollywood films. 🤣

Phantom of the Paradise has a great soundtrack, all written by Paul Williams. Great mix, better if you watch the movie first though.
