Greetings--

I am taking an informal survey for my business and thought the huge slice of life that resides at Lush would be a good place for feedback.

Can you give me the name of one song, released within the so-called rock and roll era, that will be timeless, ie, they will still be requested of radio stations. It does not have to be a rock and roll song, but during the era, so dont give me an Elvis song.

Lets say Beatles generation and forward

I appreciate your participation and providing me with your opinions....

Just as a starter, I would take Stairway to Heaven by Led Zepplin

Thanks again
Marcia

You're leaving out nearly 10 years of REAL rock and roll. Elvis didn't earn the name King of Rock and Roll for being pre-rock and roll.

As far as from the Beatles on, I like Layla (Derek and the Dominos)

Rolling Stones - Paint it Black.

Probably one of the most popular Rock n Roll songs still played widely today.

Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride - another very popular one I still hear a lot.

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven - yet another one. Used in a lot of soundtracks over the years. "Stairway! Denied" (Wayne's World cemented it for my generation)

WOW, So hard to name just one. The first one that comes to mind for me is "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple. Probably the first song that every aspiring guitarist learned to play and probably the most recognizable Guitar Riff of all-time.

BTW, How the fuck is Deep Purple NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Few others to pop in my head are

Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Satisfaction - Rolling Stones
Sunshine of My Love - Cream
Comfortably Numb _ Pink Floyd
Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

And On and On!

Well it's funny you should ask that question. When Laura's Mum was babysitting my pets when I was on holiday she brought her music and was playing it when we came home. This one track was amazing! It went on forever, was called Nantuckkett something. I don't remember the name of the band. I don't really like rock and roll, but I loved that one.

All Along the Watchtower - Bob Dylan wrote it but it will likely be the Hendrix version that lives on

There are loads of Foo Fighters songs I could choose, but I always come back to this one - I love it. The acoustic version is beautiful as well.
