The Doctor may not be very Lush, but for one who's followed him since 1of 1,I'm loving it.And Capt.Jack and the team were great and much mourned. No ones mentioned the Peter Cushing Doctor, suprisingly,or are the earlier, older Doctors not sexy enough for the newer followers.

At last, a proper Doctor Who thread! Splendid!!

I am a huge Russell T Davies fan and have had a crush on David Tennant for years, and have loved the work they did together before Doctor Who, so I was in heaven during that collaboration. I was all geared up for the Stephen Moffatt take over but lost interest after a bit. Have liked Matt Smith in other roles though. Again, am a Peter Capaldi fan and have really enjoyed his take on the Doctor, he's such a powerhouse character actor.

As for recent companions Donna was fabulous, and thought Clara was great too. And agree that as near companions Captain Jack (Torchwood could have gone on forever as I was concerned) and also Alfred (Donna's granddad played by the inimitable Bernard Cribbins) were standouts.

The problem with the Cushing Doctor, good as he was and good as his movies were, is that he'd not part of the TV continuity. It was established in the movies that he's a human scientist-inventor, not an incarnation of our favorite regenerating alien.

Personally, my favorite Doctors are classic era ones, specifically Three and Four, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker respectively. That's with the proviso that of the new crop, I've really only watched Nine (Christopher Eccleston) and Ten (David Tennant). Of those two, my favorite is Tennant but it's a close race. Good intentions about getting caught up but it's getting harder. I'll be three Doctors behind once Jodie Whittaker debuts as Thirteen.

Cute DW trivia that i don't think has been mentioned: The Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, is married to the daughter of the Fifth, Peter Davison. Which makes The Doctor his own father-in-law. More timey-wimey stuff, I guess.

Ha ha. You also forgot to mention that the Doctors daughter is also his wife in real life. Just more of that Timey-wimey stuff I guess.

LOL. Didn't want to blow their minds too much.

For those not in the know, no is involved. Tennant's wife/Davison's daughter is herself and actress and played the title character in the episode "The Doctor's Daughter".

Old school alert ! I grew up watching Doctor Who in the Pertwee Era 1970 -1974 - Jon Pertwee, Katy Manning, Roger Delgado and UNIT. That remains my favourite of the shows many eras. Of course I think it's wonderful that the show is still going and I'm still a fan.
