I run to this song and just love it!
There's no word to describe how I fucking love this band : Fugazi.

One of the most influencial alternative band of the 90s. Nirvana covered them, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers has a sticker of them on his bass, Pearl Jam cited them as one of their greatest influence ever.

That's fucking crazy! In the most awesome way, actually.

For those who don't understand what the guitarist is doing, basically he stands in front of his amp so that the sound/vibration produced hits back on the strings of his guitar to provoke an everlasting reverb.

Fan made video with footage from the movie Taxi Driver.

A classic from one of my favorite band : American Jesus, by Bad Religion (1993).

This video was very low budget, and directed by the then amateur director Gore Verbinski, one of the band's friend. Later, he would direct movies such as The Mexican, The Ring, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more recently The Lone Ranger. The people appearing in the video were all friends of the band, while the crosses were made out of styrofoam and hand painted by the band and their friends.

Individual

Individuals run for cover,
for the multitudes of thoughtless clones
have reached a critical mass.
Individuals hide in fear,
under cover, sheltered by the wafer
thin veil of intelligence.

Individuals, nowhere to be seen...

Urbana is oozing,
like a bloated carcass with maggots,
cooking in the desert heat.
Oozing, with progeny writhing
and desperate for input from
someone more determined.

Congregating in invisible circles,
half a part and half apart,
all too aware of the insignificance,
pushing on with soul and heart.

Individuals don't pray for forgiveness,
when pinned up against the wall,
under siege of persecution.
Individuals command exception,
and accept dichotomy,
maybe you can't choose anymore.

Procreation without gain or purpose,
languid wills and torpid minds,
catapulted ever faster by the arrow of time,
you'll take yours and I'll keep mine...

What does a university professor holding a PhD in Evolutionary Biology do during his free time?

Of course, get up on stage with his legendary punk band and sing intricate lyrics such as :

Ratiocination is a practicable way to derive,
An attitude of altitude and probity by which to abide.
Or maybe a theophany of flaming creosote in disguise?
The air is thin, the future dim, dimension undefined.

Please marry me! Actually, I'd marry Highwayman too for posting a song from Husker Du. These are not so well-known bands, it seems like we share quite a few musical choices.

Husker Du again, a cover from The Byrds. Bad quality, great song.

I love this song ; one of my favorites from Husker Du.

Replacements? Never heard of them. Please show me the goods.

PS: When you quote a post containing a large video/picture, please try to remove it from the quote to avoid making the thread too 'heavy'. Just saying.

Black people invented blues, jazz, rap, hip hop, yet have nothing to do with punk? Wrong!

The Bad Brains created the whole 'hardcore' subgenre of punk on the east coast in the late 70s, together with Black Flag on the west coast. The 'high-speed' aspect of modern punk music was pretty much their creation.

The Bad Brains also influenced a lot of other alternative bands, especially those combining multiple styles like the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

My definition of AMAZING : the guitar, bass and drums starting at 2:05. I love the 'echoes' of the drums, and the solo of course.

ACTIVATE!

This is a bit more recent (1995). Rasta-punk-metal, with another killer solo at 1:20.
