It seemed innocent enough. I was just going to stop by the local card store and buy a holiday card. When I got there the choices of cards were overwhelming; they had every category you could imagine. They had everything, from LED lit-up trees to pop-out reindeer antlers. I just stood there staring at them all, each section individualized by section markers. As I looked down the aisle I came across one marker named “snowballs”. When I saw it I chuckled to myself.
Apparently, I had laughed out loud without realizing it.
“Can I help you?” asked a sales girl next to me. I hadn’t realized she was there and was startled at first, but after looking at her I was almost speechless. She was maybe twenty-six, a petite brunette, and stunning. I stammered for words while my mind spun. Sure, she could help me, but in ways she could never imagine (I thought to myself).
“I’m just looking for a card for a friend and found the ‘Snowballs’ section of cards somewhat amusing,” I replied to her.
“Why?” she asked with a certain curiosity and mysterious look.
“It’s nothing really,” I said and laughed while trying to brush it off.
“Oh, okay,” she responded, “but I’d like to be in on what’s so amusing about snowballs!”
Were my ears deceiving me or was she hitting on me? I was dumbfounded, to say the least.
“I’ll explain it, but not here in the store,” I said in a somewhat stupor. “Would you like me to fill you in after you get off work?” I asked, never thinking she’d accept my invitation.
“I’d love that,” she replied.
Wow! Was I dreaming? What just happened? I never had luck like this!
After she told me she got off work at seven, I agreed to pick her up since she didn’t have a car and would need a ride. I left the store on cloud nine and went back to my car. Since I had two hours to kill I went home and made myself a drink. As I looked around I noticed my place was a mess and cleaned it up as best I could in hopes that we may end up there. Time flew by quickly and I had to head back to the store to pick her up.
Shortly after seven, she emerged from the store and I got out of my car to greet her. I escorted her to my car and opened the door for her. As she got in I marveled at her stocking-clad legs when she sat down. She was wearing a nice skirt that rode up a little as she got in.
“Would you like to go out for drinks and dinner?” I asked after I settled in behind the wheel.
“I’m tired and sick of dealing with people after a long day of retail sales,” she said exhaustedly. I wasn’t sure what to propose at that point.
“Could we just go back to your place and relax?” she asked shyly. I was once again dumbfounded by her suggestion.
“No problem at all,” I managed to say. I was now glad I had cleaned my place up.
We got there and I brought her inside and showed her around before offering her a drink, maybe some wine if she wanted.
“Do you have anything stronger?” she asked.
“I have vodka or Irish whiskey but that’s about it,” I said hoping to not disappoint her.
“Whiskey would be great!”
She was already a woman after my heart with her exuberant response. I poured us both a couple of straight whiskeys and headed back to the couch where she was waiting. We toasted and threw back our drinks. Fortunately, I had brought the bottle with me and refilled both our glasses.
As we drank through small talk we got to know each other a little bit better and I found out her name was Kelly. The whiskey seemed to loosen us up some and we were both enjoying a nice buzz and a warm glow. The attraction between us became obvious and our laughs and friendly touches turned into small kisses. The kisses then turned more passionate with our mouths together and tongues swirling around one another. We were very engaged with each other and enjoyed ourselves.
