I'd be pleased to do that for authors, as well! Disappointing how often material hasn't been proof read.
missingjane, I suspect that there would be many writers more than willing to take advantage of your offer. One thing though - before you begin to try to proofread and/or edit stories, please study the guidelines at the link below! Some of the moderators that approve stories are VERY picky about all of the details, not just spelling and grammar, while others seem to be less so. You'll need to pay particular attention to punctuation, use of names and numbers, and, especially, paragraphs and formatting dialogue! It has been a pain at times to get a chapter or a story approved, but the mods here - "wilful", in particular - have made me a better writer.
You will be doing yourself and the person you are proofing for a big favor if you know and understand the requirements and expectations FOR THIS PARTICULAR SITE before you try to do any proofreading or editing of stories. The link I've included is a good place to start. Hope this helps!
