In the state of Maine, 8 people murdered, another 20 more wounded by an Army Reservist, who taught gun shooting on the side. He attacked people in a bar and in a bowling alley, and as far as l know, is still on the loose.

His motive may have been something involving a girlfriend or ex-girlfriend.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?

Will Congress ever do anything serious to subdue this insanity? Or will mass shootings and murder still be okay with the Republic Party?

My God!? The bowling alley was hosting a youth night for kids when this piece of shit killer walked in and started shooting.

I'd bet he was a Republican. Anyone want to counter that?

The "good guy with a gun", until he got mental health issues of course, but by then he already had access to guns.

Oh well, thoughts and prayers, and more such nonsense.

Republicans in Congress wear AR-15 lapel pins, so... guess where their sentiments lie. Nothing will be done till we vote them out of office!

Maine has some of the least strict gun laws in the US. The whole pro-gun argument is that more guns in the hands of the population would stop mass shooters and bad guys in general.

He liked all the typical MAGA loudmouths on his social media.

I understand 2023 is by far the worst year for gun deaths in the USA. Currently standing at 35,383.

Tots & pears. Oh, and definitely more good guys with guns to stop this guy who was once a good guy with a gun until he wasn’t.

Do you have any practical or realistic ideas you think will reduce the number of mass shootings?

Yep. Banning assault rifles.

With this Congress????

I asked for any practical or realistic ideas. That means ideas that have a chance of becoming real.

You said practical or realistic. Banning assault rifles is practical. The only thing making it unrealistic are shit politicians.

So, nothing productive. OK.

What productive proposal do you have?

Scroll above. He wants to lobby for more good guys with guns to stop shooters, despite the fact that this shooter was once a good guy with a gun.

Not only that, red flag laws are supposed to take away guns from people who shouldn't have them. Only problem with that is that people become red flags after the damage has been done. Case in point: The guy who's the topic of this thread only became a red flag once he went on a mass shooting spree. Before that, he was an upstanding citizen of no concern who even taught gun safety. Womp womp.

He was actually on a list already and had been to a mental facility before the shooting. Talked about hearing voices and threatened to do a mass shooting… but like, the constitution or whatever.

Yeah, but after his mental health stint, he was cleared to re-enter society according to medical and legal terms (because that's how mental health holds/releases work), meaning he was no longer a red flag. Crisis averted and all that, no need to even keep an eye on him.

That's the loophole to the whole red flag thing.

Oh so it's just another way to do anything but ban assault rifles.

Yep. Which is funny because the red flag law is more unconstitutional than banning assault rifles.

Not only does that make sense, but they're also possible to enact, unlike the chances of a constitutional amendment.

If your plan in this thread is to keep meandering about red flag laws, please start another thread. The filibustering act between you and the same parties has grown stale. Thanks.

If Congress can’t change the Federal laws, the States can and should move forward without them.

Which is then challenged in courts and removed by Maga appointed judges. As an American citizen you have the rights to

1. Bend over.

2. Take it.
