When you track down the source(s) - it's always Republican in nature. Always hoping some of their fiction sticks against a wall so they can point to this or that new/bad/trend which the Democrats can be blamed for. Here's a GQP adherent - trying out some new material - he claims he was only supporting those angry patriots on January 6, 2021 with his fist bump photo - although many of us saw him dashing off as fast as he could run with his tattered dignity trailing only his shadow.
On the Fourth of July, Sen. Josh Hawley tweeted a quote he attributed to Patrick Henry. The quote argues that America "was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians."
But it didn't come from Henry — it comes from a segregationist newspaper in Virginia in 1956.
It's from the GQP playbook. Make shit up, then claim it as fact or 'spin' it as a new trend to stomp out before it can do more damage to our culture and society.
