Should President Biden run for a second term?

My toxic trait is definitely voting for the person who did that in the White House if I could vote.

To be fair I don’t care if Biden is snorting mounds of coke he’s just not all there anymore from what I have seen online. He comes across as senile in the foreign press.

In the domestic press as well, even those news agencies leaning towards Democrats. I voted for him and I can't defend the vacant expression and strange things he says. I wish he would gracefully say that he was what the country needed after Trump but one term is all he's willing to do. That way, it's not a loss; it's a choice.

Why do you need this to be a Biden family problem so badly?

Because the truth of the actual big picture - is this and it isn't pretty.

There are a lot of people who share that opinion about President Biden.

Thanks. My opinion is validated.

Okay, Bidens’s old. But he’s competent and has done some things very well. But who would replace him? I don’t think anyone wants that conversation as even aged he’s more competent mentally than anyone Chryses has ever voted for. After giving us Dubya and Trump no Republican has the right to criticize Biden on mental grounds after the incompetent and immoral leaders who are their standard bearers Hate to tell you this but Abraham Lincoln is dead and if came back they’d all call him a RINO

last i heard, Joe Biden was running, not Hunter. and thinking about it, Trump's kids don't come off that much better - nor does Trump himself frankly.

Like i just said, so what. Hunter's not going to have anything to do with his dad's policies -unlike Jerod and Ivanka, who had plenty to do with Trump's - and yet people had/have no problem backing him,

That might still happen. If it does, timing would be important. Leaving too little or too much time before the election could create chaos.

Who do you think, Ideally, should be the Democratic duo? I would say Newsom/AOC but that would be too extreme for most. They are the only ones even willing to bite back though, if not them or Biden, Who?

Good question. AOC still seems a little young, but definitely has the ability to generate excitement. Newsom would be good too. Extreme is maybe what's needed now to break voters out of complacency. That's what the Republicans have done with Trump (and arguably since Reagan). If they want to be serious contenders, Democrats should follow suit (but would it be too much to ask for a candidate who's also actually capable of the job as well?).

It doesn't have to be any of the Biden family. You've said there are any number of people who could be suspects, and we agree about that, “where, for example, the vice president’s vehicle is parked.”

It's the fact a baggie of cocaine was found in the White House that has political consequences - at least with some voters.

See, I sincerely doubt that. The "some voters" you're talking about wouldn't have voted for him anyway.

(PS.... (Not for you, ElCoco, though I used this post) I ran out of DMs yesterday! If I just stopped talking to someone yesterday, that's why!)

I don't think Republicans meant to break anyone out of complacency. I think they were as shocked as anyone by how well Trump was polling in 2016 and grabbed on to the caboose of that train before it left without them.

I'm an old school Democrat and AOC/Newsome might lose my vote. That being said, you might just very well pick up a lot of young people that makes it worth your while to lose people like me. I think you could get away with those two if Republicans run someone like Ron DeSantis. Then, people like me either won't vote for either or will bite the bullet (probably) and vote Newsome. If they ran someone more centrist, you may run into more trouble.

Even a bed ridden Joe Biden, with the equivalent of the best hospice care in the free world, would still be twice the human being that Trump has ever been - and no comparison as a leader/diplomat/statesman/President - between the two.

Trump only wins the traitorous chaotic clown award.

If Sleepy Joe were to expire during his 2nd term in office, he'd be the first President to do so (without being murdered) since Roosevelt. He'd be fondly remembered by many, cursed by others and like 99.99% of us, he'll fade from living memories within 100 years.

A woman would become the US President for the first time. (If he sticks with whatshername) Seriously, Biden could have selected his son Hunter as his Veep and he'd still have clobbered Trump with that blue tsunami in the 2020 election.

Lots of speculation at this point but it is way too early to tell. I think (hope) Trump is gradually losing his appeal other than to those mindless idiots who are willing to overlook his massive character flaws. I would prefer to see a better candidate than Biden but I think most highly qualified potential candidates want to steer clear of politics in their current condition.

It feels as if the (left wing) media repeats what they did during the previous election: giving Trump way too much attention and keep claiming how he won't win. Now, hopefully the result of the previous election will also repeat itself. Not sure if this is the way to go though.

Who wants to be first to post another Trump rant of ALL CAPS word salad and general lying incoherence as a rebuttal to Sleepy Joe's 'embarassing' leadership behavior?

I am forever confused as to why there's a $20K loan forgiveness.

Many of my friends worked while attending school and some paid off loan before they graduated. If they can do it, so can others.

Please don't vote for this elderly person again for president.

The average medical school debt is $202,450, excluding premedical undergraduate and other educational debt. The average medical school graduate owes $250,990 in total student loan debt. 73% of medical school graduates have educational debt. 43% of indebted medical school graduates have premedical educational debt.

from my understanding, studying to become a doctor is pretty much a full time gig, pretty sure i'd want my doctor to have spent his time learning his trade instead of working as a waiter so he can pay off his medical debts. maybe i'm just weird like that.

this is why, btw, we have fewer people going into the medical and healthcare profession in the states. also, my parents were able to afford a house in san francisco. if they could do it, anyone could do it. not like the prices of houses have gone up or anything.

thinking about it a bit... why do people have such and issue with student debt forgiveness. is it taking something away from them? are they against helping people out on general principle? do they not realize that the loans are predatory of that the money that is forgiven will be used to go back into the economy? do they just not want anyone to have a shot at success or happiness? are they just mean? i really don't get the issue. i mean, the politicians against it are all getting rich on lobbyist's donations. which is worse?

It is July, eons before the election and yet we feel it is time to measure the status and viability of each candidate and associated pretenders. It is a fool's errand.

Undergraduate and subsequently Medical School is followed in most cases by an internship and then a residency that can be as much as 5 additional years. That can total as much as 14 years before a Doctor starts a practice. In some cases, there are the costs of setting up an office, staffing, and buying equipment. Medicare limits what Doctors can earn plus the avarice of the general public makes malpractice insurance premiums outrageous. Couple all that with the continuous need to update one’s skills it is a wonder how a Doctors make a living at all. Don’t get me started on the trials of nurses and technicians...

I agree, though I understand that it'll feel sour to the folks who recently paid off their student debts. But I imagine that a system could be set up where recent payoffs could be partly refunded or something like that.

Joe Biden won't gain any accolades for this situation, yet it is his economy which he'll be bashed upon by the Republicans and the white ultra nationalists - and THIS prevents an erosion of belief that this economy sucks worse than under Trump's keen eye for business.

https://www.axios.com/2023/07/25/ups-deal-teamsters-strike-averted

Why it matters: The tentative deal comes just days before the date that the union, representing 340,000 workers, would have walked off the job. Such a massive work stoppage would've had a destabilizing impact on the economy.

  • The deal was touted as a big win by the Teamsters, which represents UPS workers.

  • "UPS has put $30 billion in new money on the table as a direct result of these negotiations," Teamsters General President Sean O'Brien said in a statement. "We've changed the game. This contract sets a new standard in the labor movement and raises the bar for all workers."

  • UPS CEO Carol Tomé called the deal a "win, win, win agreement."

  • "This agreement continues to reward UPS's full- and part-time employees with industry-leading pay and benefits while retaining the flexibility we need to stay competitive, serve our customers and keep our business strong," she said.
