Dave Portnoy is the founder of Barstool Sports, a popular sports blog. For some reason, the Washington Post decided to do a hit piece on Portnoy and assigned one of its “reporters,” Emily Heil, to do the piece.

Portnoy got wind of the story in the works from one of his advertisers that Heil contacted and decided to pre-empt the story by calling Heil on the phone and recording how it went. The result shows the Washington Post still has a lot of house cleaning to do if it wants people to take it seriously.

Dave Portnoy has before claimed that things were being made up about him and threatened legal action, like when he was secretly recording women during sex, only to withdraw the lawsuit when things got real.

Which has what to do with the WaPo reporter?

If you ever listen to the tweet, you will understand why Ms. Heil has locked down her Twitter feed. She deserves all the abuse she undoubtedly received for this shoddy “reporting.”

Just saying... Why do right wingers always pick the lamest Wyle E Coyote hypocritical sexual deviant assholes to be their heroes?

Anyway, load up some accounts to come agree with you now or whatever.

Obviously, Mr. Portnoy has a lot of house cleaning to do, maybe even more than the Washington Post.

It sounds like Portnoy secretly recording women having sex is the most important issue brought up in this thread, which started out rather fluffy.

I mean secretly recording sex without permission is perverted and is a felony, a real issue over a reporter doing a half ass report. That isn't even illegal and happens everyday on Fox News, Newsmax, and OOAN.

She deserves abuse?!

As punishment for her behavior.

Abuse is not punishment. It's revenge at best. You're sick dude.

Nonsense. When people engage in proscribed behavior, they are sanctioned. There is nothing new about that.  Have you listened to the tweet? Do you condone how Ms. Heil was preparing her article?

I haven't (yet). But if someone needs punishment/be sanctioned then there is a justice system for that. You know very well to what extend online abuse, especially of women, can go. Saying one deserves that is just sick!

i'm not sure what kind of abuse Ms Heil received on Twitter. if it was simply people complaining about her article, than that's fair. if it was death threats and people using vile and misogynistic language (which is what i expect is what happened) then no. no one deserves that kind of abuse and, if that's what happened, i'd have to side with Noll with calling you a sick dude. no one deserves that kind of abuse for any reason. sadly, it's become a common place tactic with MAGA and the far right - somehow they think it's acceptable. being a woman, i find it very uncomfortable, since it bleeds over into dealing with anyone, especially women, that they don't agree with on any issue. or women who stand up for themselves when confronted with such behavior. ever get abused for objecting to being talked to vulgarly or being groped? that is exactly the atmosphere being condoned here.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I agree, but that's not abuse.

That's reasonable. Here's the search I used.

It looks to me like she got what she and her employer deserved.

Found a bit more than that. There was indeed some pretty vile abuse flung her way, and a thread celebrating abuse as something well-deserved has no place on Lush.
