I don't mean to sound harsh but the reason women are actually better drivers then men is because we can think with our genitals and our heads. At the same fucking time!

Driving IQ is the obvious discriminator separating the good drivers from the bad ones. Throw in a little luck as well..good and bad. We do, however, need more female role models such as Ashley Force, Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney, and Danica Patrick. Go Daddy!!
I think drivers get better with experience and practice. That goes for both sexes!

I think the higher insurance thing for guys is based on the fact that younger guys will drive a lot faster for the thrill of it. Unfortunately my old Jeep won't go fast enough to get much of a thrill. But my brother and I do have a motorcycle that supplies a great adrenaline rush. We constantly fight over whose turn it is to use the bike or the Jeep.
As a teenager, my brother and I laughed our butts off over the fact that his insurance cost more than mine, but I was waaay more likely to get tickets! I, however, could talk (cry) my way out of tickets well into my 20's. "My father will KILL me if I get a ticket!" I'm still a speed demon today, but only when my daughter's not in the car. Damn it all, I've actually grown up.
Regarding women drivers, the so-called bad women drivers are really just being too cautious. Don't let the car control you, you control the car, girls! Racing women, I like Ashley Force and Muldowney because they EARNED their rides. Danica got her for being "cute" and being willing to pose half naked. Plus, I don't like her snotty attitude, you've had the world handed to you, girl, show a little appreciation. I often wonder if my father had let me race if I'd have done well at it, in various practices, I was always very fast.

OK here is my 2c worth, hehehe. I am the best driver I know and all who know me will back that up. I drive a BMW M3 Frozen which is a high performance vehicle, I have been on three advanced driving courses and plan on doing it every second year to make sure when the situation turns to shit, its not my fault. as far as parking goes, I have had my parking sensors disabled, if you cant park you shouldnt be driving. I do honestly believe that women, more than men, seem to struggle with gauging the size of the vehicle. So many times here in the UK a lady is driving like a MPV 4x4 and they take too much of the road up and on two ocassions I have found myself scrapping the kerb. Sorry but they dont tend to be very good at parking in my view also.
The worst drivers are certainly young males.
Women are definitely the more careful drivers and men are probably the more capable (technichally and spatially) but I doubt that makes either of them the best.
My wife has had both of her vehicles in the body shop this past year. Quite expensive fender benders! In both cases she was backing out.
And saracenrider there is a lot to what you say. Its getting that adrenaline rush. I save most of that for my motorcycles. It is a lot of fun getting along wheelie at high speed while going down the highway or interstate. But doing an off road jump? Now that's exciting!
I am a good driver, never been fined or been in an accident. Then again I'm a nervous driver lol. My fiance on the other hand....from what I can gather he has been to court a few times over his speeding.

AHHHhahahahahaha....sorry, that wasn't polite. My wife clipped a pylon then said she didn't know how the yellow got on the front of my car (before we were married). I came back from a business trip and looked at the front of her Edge and asked why the paint was missing in a spot, she replied that she had no idea. I don't claim to be a great driver, but I do know when something happens.

Not in my case as my wife is partialy sighted.........But i do agree in general they are better drivers...
I don't think there is any real difference between men and women drivers (other than young guys 16-21 that love to drive really fast.)
People blabbing on cell phones are the huge road hazard. Texting while has already been proven to be much more dangerous than drunken driving. Smoking pot while driving may cause road rage by non-stoned drivers because they don't like being stuck behind someone driving only 20 mph.
Once a lady blabbing on her cell phone drove right into the side of my car while I sat a red light because she couldn't turn the steering wheel with one hand and the other hand holding her phone to her head.
I am all for a law prohibiting hand held cell phone use by drivers.

The statistics tell a paradoxical story. According to a controversial study by researchers at the John Hopkins Schools of Medicine and Public Health, women are more likely to be involved in car crashes than men - despite the fact that men are three times more likely to be killed when they do crash.
As reported in the June issue of Epidemiology, American women were involved in 5.7 crashes per million miles driven. Men, on the other hand, clocked up just 5.1 crashes per million miles. Given the fact that men drive an estimated 74 per cent more miles per year than women, the figure is surprising indeed.
"Although risk-taking behaviours may contribute to the excessive injury mortality among men and younger drivers, up to now age and sex discrepancies in death rates from motor vehicle crashes have not been well understood," says lead author Guohua Li, associate professor of emergency medicine.
Using crash statistics gathered by the Fatal Accident Reporting System, the General Estimates System and the Nationwide Personal Transportation Survey, the researchers developed an innovative method called "decomposition" to break down the data into new categories and weigh the relative contribution of three variables: crash fatality, incidence density (number of crashes per million miles) and exposure prevalence (annual average miles driven per driver). Until now, the death rate ratio has always been based on just two factors: fatality and accident rates.
The investigators discovered that teenage boys start recklessly, with about 20 per cent more crashes per mile driven than teenage girls. Males and females between the ages of 20 and 35 run almost identical risks. Females over the age of 35, however, are significantly more likely to crash than their male counterparts.
Each year, motor vehicle crashes in America claim a staggering 40,000 lives, cause three million injuries and cost the nation $140 billion.
I had a client tell me this one time at the barn, only he qualified it by saying we just cant handle a stick as well. At the time i was driving A ford 1ton(with no clutch) 6.9 powerstroke regularly pulling a 6 horse gooseneck. and my boss also standing close by drove a school bus. We both looked at the man standing with his little camry and wondered wtf?
it is difficult to parallel park the truck & trailer, but i can back the two anywhere you need to go!
Women are better drivers but men are better at parking a car.......by far.
