I think I am guilty of calling it all three. Mostly coke though.

Coke

I am from Ontario, Canada, I call it pop, then flavor specific. Pop would be short for carbonated beverages collectively. I don't get why anyone would refer to all pop as "Coke?" What if they want Pepsi or ginger ale? You still call it Coke? How would anyone know what you wanted if you ordered at a restaurant? Makes no sense to me.

In the upper midwest of the US, mainly pop. I understand it slowly changes to soda and coke as you head south to Texas.

However in Georgia it's a Soder, or a Co-cola

Coca-Cola - I just call it Toilet Cleaner.
When the 'S'-Bend is starting to look like the 'Skid-Pan' at a Driver Training Centre, I just add 1 can of Coca-Cola and leave it overnight.
Next morning the active ingredients have left the porcelain looking pristine.

Anyhow, after too many Dr Peppers, all Forrest Gump wanted to do was 'Pee'.
SODA

Coca-Cola (Coke) was created in Atlanta, Georgia in the late 1800s and spread from there. So down South everything is called some type of Coke. Just the way it evolved.

"I'll take a grape coke, no make that an orange coke."

What the hell is a pepsi?

Soda, but head west and it becomes pop.

that's funny cos when i'm at a gas station/restaurant that has self-serve, i call it a fountain drink. any other time, it's a soda. thought i was the only one to switch it up.

Say. Her. Name.

I was scrolling through this thread and I saw an early post where the guy said that when he moved to California people looked at him askance when he said "soda," so he started saying "pop." I have lived in Southern California for years and everyone refers to it as "soda." Could be different in Northern California, I suppose. They like to pretend they are a different state anyway . . .
