Sounds like that would quickly become infuriating lol.
Most folks refer to it as a soft drink here, though I have heard the term pop bandied about as well, just not nearly as often.
I don't really understand the term soft drink. The vast majority of soft drinks I've imbibed I wouldn't describe as soft, perhaps bubbly or burning but not soft.

I've called it soda, soda pop, coke, and, when I was a kid "fizzy drink". Right now, it's just all classified as soda pop to me, but I'll never stop getting a kick out of people that just always call it Coke.

I grew up calling it Coke (whether it actually was Coca-Cola or not) but My Linda has changed Me and know we just call it soda. We don't drink Coca-Cola, we drink store brand but it's all good!
