I'm not sure if it's sung in Belarusian or Russian.

Prospekty by Dlina Volny

4:30

lyrics from page:

По проспекту я иду одна / Po prospektu ya idu odna / I am walking down the avenue alone
Не замечаю я вокруг себя / Ne zamechayu vokrug sebya / I fail to notice that around me
Что небо красное / Chto nebo krasnoye / The sky is red
Что я пьяна / Chto ya pyana / And I am drunk
Память не светлая / Pamyat ne svetlaya / My memory is not bright
При свете дня / Pri svete dnya / In the daylight

По проспекту я иду одна / Po prospektu ya idu odna / I am walking down the avenue alone
Не замечаю я / Ne zamechayu ya / I fail to notice that
В душе бурьян / V dushe buryan / My heart is restless
Что небо черное / Chto nebo chyornoye / That the sky is black
Что я бледна / Chto ya bledna / That I am pale
Память не светлая / Pamyat ne svetlaya / My memory is not bright
Мечта жива / Mechta zhiva / The dream is alive
I've been listening to Mercury Rev this week, had forgotten what a great band they are.

The Peel Sessions team often did a better production job for a band than the album producers — this being a case in point.

Even after all these years, I still miss listening to John Peel of a night.

Lyrics
Stairs, to nowhere climb
I take them, all the time
Crawling on my knees
Walking that old fine line
And when I'm alone and scared
I think up little rhymes
They would make no sense to you
But I make them all the time
And time is all mine
And time is all mine
It's the little pills you find
Crushed to dust, rolling out of sight
They end up in the strangest places
But I take them all the time
And time is all mine
And time is all mine
When everyone, is false
I tell them I'm just fine
I can't, remember their names
But I fake them all the time
And time is all mine
And time is all mine
And time is all mine
And time is all mine
And when I'm alone and scared
I think up little rhymes
They would make no sense to you
But I make them all the time

I use to listen to the John Peel sessions. I'm "only" 32, so I was around 11/12 when I first use to listen on the radio at night, but it was great discovering new music.

Thanks for posting here, Emma. I think that's great that someone from your generation remembers John Peel. When he died in 2004, he was sixty-five, which is the the age I am right now *gulp*. He would eighty-one if he had lived, and am sure would still be serving up new music to an eager audience.

More bands than people might realise got their break by doing a session for his show, or having their records played.

If anyone is interested who has never heard the great man before, here is his very last show. You can hear him talk at 11:35

Just found this recording of the John Peel show from 1967. Co-hosted, I think. Not sure who the other guy is.

Jeez! I was twelve when this was broadcast. Pretty much the age Emma (above) was when she first heard him).

It was a good couple of years of music for me. I'll have to check out some of the sessions and relive my youth.

... Mercury Rev - Little Rhymes (Peel Session) ...

Rarely has Neil Young sounded this good. smile

That great rendition of Joy Division's Transmission. That was on John Peel?

I just found it elsewhere. :)

Nice: but the music sounds a bit like a song I heard in a Zeppelin record (though not 10x in the past 10 days :)).

My thoughts exactly the first time I listened to Mercury Rev.

Name a bandwith with any creditibility and they probably did at least one Peel session.

Joy division did two recordings in 1979.

You've probably seen, Control? Apart from being a great movie, it gives an authentic feel of the UK in the mid-late seventies — as I remeber it, that is.

This is a link to all the bands Peel had on his show.

not a lot of songs about volcanoes that I know of: that and the Genesis song.

[yt]Control, The Movie - Official Trailer[/yt]

Eventually I will. I remember hearing about how they decided that it had to be in B&W.

FWIW:

I used to like Love will tear us Apart, though I now like the Michael Gira and Jarboe covers better.

She's lost Control almost immediately makes me think of Guess Who's She's come Undone.

That "Don't walk away in silence" song is fickin' haunting in a good way.

I love Transmission as I've been listening to radio these decades.

My fav New Order song: Everything's Gone Green.

[yt]Car Seat Headrest - "Martin" (Official Lyric Video)[/yt]

Can he see himself doing those dishes?

(nice song)

I've been listening to these two songs a lot, the first maybe not 10x in 10 days—maybe 15x in 30—whatever, I'm including it. It was the first MIT song I heard and I first came across them on YouTube this summer. Because I'm ticked about YouTube suspending me several months ago, I'll put in the links to the Vimeo videos.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_I_Trust

NPR called Men I Trust an electro-pop band,[13] Our Culture Mag describes the band as indie,[5] and online music publication The Fader described their style as dream pop.[8]

I tend to agree with the latter, especially Tailwhip
