Just popping in to say hello before heading to the gym. I’m so tempted but all the sugary treats but this mama has to fit into her mother of the bride dress in a month.

The fun part for me is that my son will officiate his sister’s wedding.

Now I just need that bf of my youngest to propose! (Should be soon).

Me happy! My top Olympics moment so far was watching the Men’s Gymnastic team take Bronze! I felt their energy through the tv screen. After a disastrous prelims, they battled back to perform at their best. Love how they supported one another.

Although the French lady gymnasts had a hard time, the crowd really cheered them and showed them love. The best fans cheer louder when you are down!

I’m actually feeling like writing, but not for here. A story about the current state of the world. What I see, and what I hope for. Maybe at least one person will be moved by it.

Let's have a toast to the Canadian women of the rugby 7s team. Beat Australia and then put on a great show, so I hear, in the final against top-ranked New Zealand. Silver is as pretty as gold in the right light.

Also to swimmer Summer McIntosh. Only 17 in her second Olympics and she's got a gold (400 IM) and a silver (400 freestyle) in hand. She also holds the world record in 400m individual medley and is two-time world champion in that event.

When I was 17, surviving high school looked like a medal-worthy feat.

So many things to admire in the Olympics, even though the IOC has been one of the most corrupt organizations in the world for a long time.

Simone Biles – an astonishing athlete and amazing human being. So glad that she's come back and looks SO good. She virtually carried the US women's team to the podium, then went on to win an individual gold!

Summer McIntosh – It's SUMMER time! At 17, she's just coming into her own, and it's a name we'll hear for a long time.

Christa Deguchi, who has both Japanese and Canadian citizenship and chose to play for Canada because she would have had a hard time making the Japanese team – then won the first Olympic gold medal ever for Canada in Judo.

The Canadian women's Rugby 7s who were just flat out amazing. And the American women in the same event also upset Australia.

So many heart-breaking and heart-healing stories at the Olympics, always.

I think one of my favourite Olympic stories was in, I think, the Mexican Olympics, in 1968, when a marathoner from … Morocco? … somewhere … finished dead last with a time of more than 4 hours when a good time is under 3 hours and a great time is under 2 1/2 hours. He was asked why he bothered to finish. Panting, he replied, "My country sent me here to compete. I had to finish or my race would not have counted. I couldn't let my country down just because I wasn't fast enough to win."

That, in my eyes, is the true Olympic spirit. "I couldn't let my country down."

Oh, and let me put out … some chocolate gateau for y'all to nosh on!

It's been a busy time since Saturday.

My little town had some flooding from a monsoon . but it's recovering nicely

I have seen some highlights from the Olympics. Last time I watched the Olympics from start to finish (lol) was in 1988 Seoul when Greg Louganis was diving . Other than that it's been watching mostly diving and swimming and some gymnastics

A large coffee would be fantastic errands done this morning so maybe a quiet afternoon .

moseying over to my secret agent hidey spot and retrieving my sprinkly donuts and sports page then taking my coffee and goodies and settling down

I'm excited the new Hank Aaron forever stamp is on sale now so I need to make a run to the post office today .

Get Ready for Kansas City Brew Fest This Weekend at Union Station.

The Kansas City Brew Festival takes place this Saturday at Union Station. Cheers to that!

For the Thirsty: The festival will feature 45 local and national breweries serving 120 beers. Admission includes unlimited samples, with food trucks on site.

Day Drinking: The event has two general admission sessions: 1-4 pm and 5-8 pm. There is also a VIP session from noon-4 pm, which offers pours of special beers.

Tickets for Brew Fest start at $50.

August will be a busy month! HS friends will come to visit for a week starting Saturday. Mid-month we will make our annual trek to visit my sister in Canada. The toward the end of the month, my husband will finally walk our oldest daughter down the aisle. Hopefully I will still find time to write. I am working on a story for SS that sort of got pushed to that back burner when I decided to spice up The Last Dance series to make it Lush worthy. Hopefully that will be ready next week.
