RUMPLATIONS: Awesome Honky Tonk and Cyber Bar How Y'all Are?

TGIF all y’all. We start our trek south today. We will hop the 9 am ferry to St. Ignace and hopefully make it to Gatlinburg by midnight or sooner factoring in stops. We will enjoy a day there and then finish the drive home on Sunday. Its been lovely to visit with family but I'm looking forward to being home. 🥰

Lady Jay and I are preparing to go on a trek. We're flying over to England, spending some time in London (because we LIKE London), then crossing the Channel by ferry (not fairy) to Normandy, where we will re-enact the D-Day Landing – without the bullets, fortunately. We'll spend a week in Normandy with one of Jay's cousins, then back to spend a couple of weeks with friends, notably ones that are celebrating a special anniversary.

Then fly home.

That's happening later this month. I'll give you all the dates later, but someone's gonna have to tend the bar.

I'll drop in from time to time when I can, but I don't think I'm going to be able to take care of Bertha and Tea Kettle as they deserve.

Meanwhile, it's summer here in the Great White North, so let's get some Lovin' Spoonful on …

I would like to introduce our summer intern, Heidi Goodhead. She will be serving adult beverages on the back porch, aka our hot tub area. Tip her well folks! She's working on her Masters at Michigan State.

Don’t get me started, Bear! We are going to lose lots of abilities generations before had with all this smart tech. I will never buy a car that drives or parks for me. I predict future generations will barely write. My sister’s grandkids do most of their work on computers in elementary school. Cursive isn’t taught in a lot of schools anymore. I’m just not sure we’re involving in a healthy way.

Another work weekend, so I’ll be frequenting the caffeine.

I have fears of AI completely replacing humans as far as creative fields go. Imagine an existence without Guy Ritchies or Quentin Tarantinos. Just AI writing scripts... ugh.

On June 16, 1884, the first roller coaster in America opens at Coney Island, in Brooklyn, New York. Known as a switchback railway, it was the brainchild of LaMarcus Thompson, traveled approximately six miles per hour and cost a nickel to ride. The new entertainment was an instant success and by the turn of the century there were hundreds of roller coasters around the country.

Thanks Kat, and Lion, for the good wishes. I'm doubly a father – a father and a grandfather. Both are rewarding, but in very different ways.

And thanks, Lion for the setup, once again. Would you be interested in at least a part-time job behind the bar?

Lotta stuff to do, both around the house, but also getting ready to fly off to England and France while working on getting Bear and Girl published. I think we have a cover, now, thank the Lord!

Lots and lots of strawberries in the market now, and not those horrible California clones that look beautiful and taste like cardboard!

So, I'll leave some strawberry treats, grab a Bear-sized mug of tea, and retreat to Kimmi's Korner to kommune!
