Woke up to this sad news today. Peter Green was my guitar hero of choice back in my teens.

It came as a bit of a shock to learn he was dead this morning; I thought he had passed over at least ten years ago. A bit of a glitch in the matrix for me. I would have put money on him being already dead if anyone had asked me last week.

Anyhow, something of a genius that acid brought to bloom only to promptly snatch back its bounty. Here is the last single he recorded with the band. The lyrics and tone of the song are laden with portents of his life to come.

Now, when the day goes to sleep
And the full moon looks
The night is so black that the darkness cooks

Don't you come creepin' around
Makin' me do things I don't wanna do
Can't believe that you need my love so bad

Come sneakin' around tryin' to drive me mad
Bustin' in on my dreams
Makin' me see things I don't wanna see

'Cause you're da Green Manalishi
With the two prong crown
All my tryin' is up all your bringin' is down

Just takin' my love then slippin' away
Leavin' me here just tryin' to keep from followin' you
I didn't get into Fleetwood Mac until after his time (he left when I was like 5) but came across Green later in life. Sad to see him gone. Been listening to some of his work, both from that era and his more recent performances. Helluva blues-rock guitar player and songwriter.
I've always loved Fleetwood Mac, and the below song is one of my all time favourites. RIP Peter Green.

I only learned of the old Feetwood Mac after my gramma gave me her vinyl collection when she sold her house. Dad played the Fleetwood Mac and the Rumours CDs a lot in the car when I was growing up so I was familiar with that band lineup. When I found a Fleetwood Mac album in Grammas collection that said only 'Fleetwood Mac' and had a street alley photo with a garbage can I thought it was an alternate release of the other album. Wrong! I loved it! I have a whole playlist of Peter Green Fleetwood Mac songs now!

I was sad to hear of Peter Green passing away. Here is a live recording of one of their last shows in 1970...

RIP listening to him right now.
