Okays I know this sounds lame, but I really have no clue as to what cute thing I could do with my gal on Valentines Day. I know its sad but this is really the first time I'm not single on V day.( well first time the girl is local and close). So I have no clue what to do and she sorta has high expectations. Help if you can.

Flowers will cost triple what they do now, and the restaurants will be packed. Find out what she likes and tailor it around hearts, love, and roses. If you make it unique, she will treasure it and brag about you to all her friends.
It's difficult to make suggestions without knowing what she likes.
One word of warning, though - if this is your first Valentine's Day together and you go all out with expensive gifts, she's gonna expect the same every year!
I'd start out with something thoughtful and personal.
Take her out for a picnic... its very cheap, you can make the food yourself all you will need is a bottle of bubbly.
Make her a card? My ex once made me a box of chocolates which was really cute, he went out a bought the chocolate that you can melt, chocolate moulds and a cute box to put them in.
If you really want to buy her something, buy her something personal, its hard to say without knowing on what level your relationship is with her, buy lingerie or jewelry is always a good bet.
Or you can invite her over for a chick flick movie marathon, that's always nice. Take out some really old classics, its also a cheap option, all you will really need to buy is the popcorn, I take it you have blankets to cuddle under?
The main thing is that it is ALL about the two of you, so no undivided attention by spending time on lush...
Cook her dinner (flowers and candles on the table) then give her some sexy lingerie with a poem you have written just for her and have her model the lingerie then take it off her and give her a massage.

Bunny Rabbits cute and fuzzy they want to love you but they have razor sharp teeth - don't piss them off! I vote for a dinner especially cooked .... taking into consideration what you know she loves! ... and if it's only dessert ... that works too!
The idea of special days is to make it unique and special - for her ... from you!
Handmade ANYTHING is far more memorable ... though I do have to say ... that 3 karat diamond was a winner in my books! lol

There's a million things you can do, but what works best is showing that you put some serious thought into it. Actually, that's the best formula for any kind of gift. Get her something that goes along with her favorite song, or references a book she likes or what have you. Does wonders for a girl to realize you actually listen to her.

Pick up a card at CVS and scratch your name at the bottom of it and give it to her "because you have to"... then remind her how lucky we are that the mortgage actually got paid this month and oh yeah... one more year until college... the little one starts pre-school when?... how much did our insurance go up this year for adding an underage driver??
Wait a minute... this might not work for everybody. Scratch all that. Do something nice.
Make some I owe you voucher type things that say things like 'Make one dinner', 'Do washing up for one day', and other things to do around the house that she usually does so when she doesnt feel like it she can give you the voucher and say 'You owe me the whole house vacummed today!!'
Of course you can do sexy ones as well, like one good oral session (for her of course), umm handcuffs and whipped cream, things like that
when I was in college and had little money I call the local pizza parlor and asked them to make a heart shaped pizza for me (they thought it was the funnest thing they ever heard of) I showed up with the pizza and a bottle of lambrusco it was the begining of wonderful evening... its the simple things in life that make it fun.
