Supersize your story here.

Their marketing tactics are widely regarded in the industry as one of the lowest in terms of ethical standards.

"Get the little 'uns hooked on the junk before they even know how to read and write." (1)

Yes, very nice indeed McXecutives

(1) this quote may not have been said to me by a fast food chain marketing professional tongue in cheek while at a party that neither of us went to.
I'm going to start talking about Green Issues next
Poor little porkers don't stand a chance. Doesn't a Big Mac have around 500 calories in it?
Why should macDonalds get any shame awards???If people choose to buy their product -noone compels them.
They're the worst ones out there when it comes to targeting kids in their advertising. I've noticed the other fast food chains here have pretty much stopped aiming their ads at children now.
McDonald's were the first fast food restaurant chain in America to begin constructing those fcking ridiculous playground additions INSIDE their gawddamned locations.

What's that all about if not pandering/marketing strategy?

"Hey, come on over to McD's and spend three hours - have lunch AND dinner here"

They'll gladly serve up 2500 calories and give you back three cents for your $20 worth of daily meals.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
Allow me to add my thoughts. Yes they may seem to target kids, however, it is the parents responsibility to teach ther kids healthy eating habits. And when kids kick and scream for their dose of the golden arches, parents should be the PARENTS and not give in to every whim of their child. Its called parental responsibilty which unfortunately has dwindled in this day and age. Everything is someone else's fault. Its Mcdonalds fault America is obese. Its the governements fault we're poor. Its the bank's fault I'm out of money. So on and so on. And now its someone else's fault that my kid is an obese, disobedient, uneducated, disrespectful brat.

Well said!! *applaud*
Very good viewpoints. I'm also sick of parents blaming society or parts thereof for what happens to their kids. On the other hand, I think the other viewpoint is about the slick, psychological marketing that McDonald's employs (along with other huge corporations). Yes, part of their winning formula is to go after the kids. They came out with the Happy Meals, Ronald McDonald, the playgrounds, Chicken McNuggets, ice cream, and shakes. Mom and Dad come home after a long day at work and their kids are hungry. They're not in the mood to argue about what to eat, and the kids are shrieking "McDonald's".
Other companies have picked up on the idea. Notice the vacation advertising being targeted right at kids now. They know the kids influence the decision-making in a household to a large degree nowadays. Las Vegas is aiming their advertising at "whole family" packages. Cruise ships are advertising the same way. Industries that would advertise "get away from it all/your kids" have reversed themselves.
It's become very slick and very psychological. Let me stress again, it's no excuse for how your kid ends up or the trouble he gets into. I want to be clear on that. I'm just pointing out how our minds are being played with.
This thread - I'm lovin' it!

Well put Roc. I agree totally. The psychological part of advertising is incredibly slick. I won't deny that at all. I've worked in fast food and unfortunately I saw kids like the one in the pics posted by Nic. It's sad. And now the advertising has spread to all new markets, targeting th coffee crowd. I am tired of the coffee commercials as is most of America from what I've heard. We get it, you have new coffee stuff. Now can I get back to my reality show please????

But thanks for poiting out the other side Roc. I didn't mean to over look it and its very true!

Have you read "No Logo" darthggoldie? A little preachy and repetitive in places, but an interesting read nonetheless.
I actually haven't. I will have to add it to my reading list.
