International Bacon Day or Bacon Day is an unofficial observance, often celebrated on the Saturday before US Labor Day (the first Monday of September). Some cultures, however, celebrate on December 30th, while others celebrate the day on the first Saturday in January after the new year.

Bacon day celebrations typically include social gatherings during which participants create and consume dishes containing bacon, including bacon-themed breakfasts, lunches, dinners, desserts, and drinks. Bacon Day gatherings may also include the consumption of soy bacon or turkey bacon.

Bacon Day was conceived in 2004 by a group of CU Boulder (Colorado) graduate students.

no Bike did not put me up to this! I heard it on the radio - and they were talking about dishes they were going to add bacon to .... I thought, no way. Google ... and there you have it! International Bacon Day ... hoping to gain popularity around the world where ever pork products are eaten!

Here's one I'm actually going to try.

Hot bacon slaw

2 bacon slices, 16 oz. Bag coleslaw mix, 1/4 c balsamic vinegar, 1.5 tbsp. Brown sugar, 3 tbsp. Water, 1/2 tsp seasoned salt and 1/4 tsp cayenne. Cook bacon in large non stick skillet until crisp, remove and set aside. Add coleslaw mix to drippings and cook over med-high heat for 3 min. Add remaining, cook and stir one minute then remove from heat. Crumble bacon and stir in. Serve warm.

You know didn't see this holiday on my holiday web pages, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is. Just do a search on weird and wacky holidays. There is a holiday for every day of the year.

Now the first Monday of September as most know is Labor Day. I celebrate 06September as National Cherokee Holiday.
I hope "sizzlin" didn't miss this monumental celebration. Put pork on your fork!!!
Bacon. What a wonderful breadkfast food and burger additive/ Yum Yum

Damn that sounds yummy.
Tried it Sunday night Bike. Wasn't too bad. Maybe a little less vinegar but, otherwise ok.
