Got a message from Admin, I guess my stories are no longer good enough to be published on this site. I am taking that as a good slap in the face, and I think it will be a long time before I write again for a while....

*Sigh*
Princess, every writer has to edit their work. Writing is a time consuming thing, you can't just slap some words down on paper and call it a story. It isn't a race to post stories, take your time, put some good hard effort into it and I'm more then sure that you can come up with something not only good, but great.

I agree 100% altho I am a new writer here my first story took me 2 weeks to write. My pt 2 isn't going any quicker. Just write and polish and re-write and you'll be surprised what you can do. Just don't give up hun.

I always write it down on paper first. Then go back and edit that( you should see the rough draft, marks, marks, marks) Then it is time to type it up and still make changes there. Finally I copy and paste here for a submit and sometimes make changes there too... A great story takes time...
Dont give up hun...

Princess, that doesn't mean your stories are no longer good enough, it just means that particular story required a little extra work. You would've been given a reason for it being removed. Just use that as a guide, tweak your story a bit and resumbit.

Stories are never removed to discourage authors from writing. They're removed to encourage writers to submit their best work.

Don't let a minor rejection put you off.

Take your time when you write your story their is no prize for how fast you get done.I start with paper and pen and then when I have it all written down I type it out and edit it and then submit it. I have had my stories rejected before just try again.
A writer needs to have thick skin. I wouldn't be published, if I had given up the first time someone said my stuff wasnt good enough. I wouldn't be published if I had given up the ten thousandth time someone said I wasn't good enough. For every piece I've had accepted, I received 100's of rejections. Every writer experiences massive amounts of negative critique and rejection. I forget who said it, but a famous writer once said that the only difference between an amateur and professional writer, is that the professional never gave up.

If you adopt one single trait that most writers have in common... make it perserverance.

If something is rejected, reach out for critique... find out what's wrong with it, then fix it. Maybe we should have a sandbox, where we can post works in progress, for others to help us iron out the kinks...???

My first stories were just plain awful. I read stuff that I wrote a year ago and I cringe. I read stuff that I wrote a few months ago and I just want to cry. How did I write so badly?
But thats what it takes really. I'm not a good writer. really i'm not. But being your own harshest critic means you never feel like its finished.
I always love to let a story sit for at least a week. Let it simmer. Re-read it aloud to yourself. Fix the mistakes you see. Let it sit again. Repeat the process until you feel comfortable with it. It doesn't need to be perfect.

If you are really having a lot of trouble Lush does have a good number of volunteers willing to help writers get better.
Thousands of user submitted stories removed from the site. You are nothing without your users or their freely submitted stories.
We understand you have had some difficult times in your life, we have tolerated all your moody threads, but please, Grow up.

I moderate about 5stories a day, and from those 5 about 2 are approved. You aren't special just because your story got rejected, it means you are average and need a little help, like the rest of us. You really think that just because your story got rejected you need to make a thread about it and tell us that you wont be writing anymore?

How many threads like this do you think there would be if every author that got rejected did this?

Come on,
oh boy ... woah is PW.

Well ... perhaps you should read the biographies of some of our greatest writers, and you will find that easily, many of them had a LOT of rejections before being published. Some hundreds of times, under different names, changing chapters, deleting chapters, scrapping the whole thing, and starting anew with the same "idea".

I think that many of us writers grow a bit better (as a writer and as a person) with some rejection and/or constructive critiquing. Hell, life and writing are not like today's sports days in school, where just by participating you get a ribbon!! No winner, no second best ... just a participant. Boring!!

Stretch ... aim higher and better ... have ambition to be even better than your goal.

Actually, many of us could take that into our own lives, not just in our writing.

Good luck in whatever new hobby you find PW.
