I have two jobs. One I absolutely love because of the rewards of it. The other is very interesting at times, sometimes a little dangerous and it pays my bills!

So much. I left it two years ago and didn't want to go back, but had no other choice.

I loved my last "real job", traveling constantly as a regional real estate manager for a larger company. Challenging, but always interesting. Now I'm working a sort of "coasting into retirement" job that I don't really need, and it's okay. Three+ days off each week, and the job is very laid back except for the occasional moments when it isn't. One thing that makes it easier is knowing that if some aspect of it becomes intolerable I can simply walk away at any time and not look back.

No, I do not hate my job. I started and own the businesses with Hubble and our employees. Hubbie and I own 100% of the voting stock, with me owning 60%. I own 40% of the stock in the businesses he started or inherited from his parents. Our employees own a different class of stock used only for the profit sharing. Those dividends makes up the majority of their annual income.

What I hate most at this point of the business's history is the long hours at the beginning of each new year. This is about 90 hours a week and usually all 7 days. These long hours last from the first working day of each new year through the first week of April. The rest of the year we have longer than normal hours the first 4 to 5 days of each month, which is around 50 to 60 hours, but no weekends. The rest of the year I only work about 20 to 25 hours a week, also no weekends.

Nope, I absolutely love it.

I always see it that way: if anyone asked me to perform an activity that I normally enjoy in my free time in a forced schedule of 7+ hours a day, like playing the guitar, or working out, or reading stuff, or playing poker with friends, or playing video games, or even fucking my girlfriend, it's actually extremely likely that I'd be goddamn tired of it after only a few days. The fact that I can accomplish my job day after day, week after week without ever becoming exhausted or exasperated just hints that it's probably the activity that suits me the best and that I enjoy performing the most in my entire life.

Sure sometimes I'd simply prefer to stay at home and do something else, but hey, that's part of work and that's what makes weekends so refreshing and fun. I've been without a daily job a few times in my life (a few months when I joined Lush actually), and I genuinely missed that rewarding 'Friday feeling' that you get after a devoted week of work; 'free time' just really isn't the same without all those recurrent periods of committed work.

And in case anybody is curious, I pretty much spend my entire days staring at these plans. It suits (and soothes) my detail-oriented mind, haha:

No, I do not hate or dislike my job. I really love my job. I built my business from scratch. Even during the very long hours, about 90, of the first 3 months of the year.

No. It's cushy, and I am good at it. I get bored with it often, but not so much I would give it up.

I may, however, retire early and give this "make your living as a writer" thing one more shot (I failed miserably the first time).

Absolutely not.....I get to do a lot of traveling, have flexible hours, work for a dynamic company and if things continue as they have in the past, I hope to make a difference.

I don't hate it. I don't have a passion for it either. I'm pretty good at it, but there are a lot of things I disagree with that my management does. They try to run things without knowing how to do my job, which to me is a corporate flaw. But, it pays the bills and I get to met lots of new people.
