When I hear names like Soma, Alabama (like the Strokes song), or Santa Fe, New Mexico, or Bismark, or Los Angeles, or Austin, Texas, or Omaha, or some others, I think "I'd like to be there, if I had to move that would be the right place", just because I like the name.

Meanwhile other names just put me off, like San Diego, San Francisco, Memphis, New Orleans, Virginia , South and North Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, etc, those are places I wouldnt like to be in, just because I dont like their names.

I wonder if anyone feels the same way, would you go to some place in particulat just because you like the name?

PS, I know this question seems a bit stupid, and perhaps is, it's just some laid back chit chat. And if anyone lives in the second group of places, dont take it personal, I hate the name of my city too.
I want to move to Paris, Texas. I heard they have great baguettes.

There's also a Mexico, Maine. That cracks me up. They actually call themselves Mexicans hahaha!
I would because when you are travelling when people ask where are you from you want to be able to say something cool. People judge you based on what city you live in and status opens doors. I do it all the time. If you are from a wierd redneck place its better to round up to a main city when people ask where you from imo.

if there was a city named Wonderland, i would SO move there! i like referring to Seattle sometimes as The Emerald City - it's just got a magical ring to it smile

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

There's Blueballs Pa. Wanna move there? Also Intercourse Pa.
This sounds like a fun city to live in!

Yes, they made an indie movie called Paris, Texas, it was very good. I love the flexibility and freshness of city naming in the USA. There's a town in California called Tarzania, apparently they were Tarzan fans, I wonder if they have a Cheetah Avenue, or something.

And in Scream Queens season two there was this girl Sierra who was from Suffern, New York, I liked the name so much, spent a whole morning watching it on google earth. (who said wasting time aint funny)

Mexico, Missouri and the official language is Mexican
I'd rather create my own town and name it after myself.

What would you name it? Perhaps, I'd like the name enough to make the move - JUST for the name! smile
i want to move to other city or state is not because the name but the good economy of that certain place
There's a town in Michigan called Hell.

It's safe to say that Hell froze over, literally.
